coracle13 (12)Phew what a scorcher! That could be said for last weekend too but today Sweet Lamb was bathed and when Tom Cave & Stephanie Key (DS3) stopped on stage 1 it looked game on for a close rally. It proved to be that with the final top two finishing dead level on time, so it went to a tie breaker and so it was Martyn & Dawn England (Evo) who won thanks to a 1st stage time 3 seconds faster than Dan Humphreys & Will Rogers (Evo). Completing the podium were Sara Williams & Dai Roberts (Impreza) were 3rd a further 6 seconds back and 4th and top 2WD crew were Matthew Robinson & Kim Baker (Escort MkII). Read More »

The stunning weekend continued over in Wales for the Bill Gwynne Coracle Stages. The first stage at Sweet Lamb caused a number of crews to loose time as an advance arrow was misread by some crews as being on the corner and several crews took a wrong slot. Avoiding this pitfall were Matt Edwards & Will Rogers (Evo IX) who took a slender early lead. On stage 2 Tom Cave & Craig Parry (Impreza) took the lead and they extended it to 42 seconds by the end of the event. Edwards was a fantastic 2nd overall ahead of the Impreza WRC of Bob Ceen & Andy Bull. Read More »

Glorious weather bathed the Sweet Lamb rally facility for the 2011 Coracle Stages. Tom Cave & Craig Parry (Impreza) started out first on the road and eventually won the event by 80 seconds but it was by no means a formality. Barry Jones & Chris Williams (Impreza) were leading after two stages and after slipping back to second place over the next two tests, stage 5 saw their chances disappear as they went OTL. Dylan Davies & Andrew Litchfield (Impreza) had been third early on but a time consuming off on stage 3 put paid to a decent result, so it was Martyn & Ian England (Evo IX) who picked up the pieces to finish 2nd overall with Richard Hill & Pat Cooper (Escort Cosworth) 20 seconds further back in third. After a murky start the Coracle Stages ended up in glorious weather conditions. The top three took on a very different character after the final stage. Martyn & Ian England (Evo IX) held the lead but a final stage retirement saw Tom Cave & Craig Parry (Impreza) take a maiden victory. Cave had set fastest times on the opening two stages of the rally as the leading pair pulled away from the rest of the field. Sara Williams & Dai Roberts (Impreza) were delighted with 2nd overall at a venue Williams doesn’t feel suits her driving style. Completing the podium should have been Emyr Morgan & Emyr Hall (Impreza) but they retired on the final stage letting Wug Utting & Michael Ainsworth (Impreza) take the final podium place. Read More »

Coracle 09 (3)Another wet one up at Sweet Lamb, but not unexpected either. We managed to dodge the worst of the rain and the competition more than made up for the poor weather. After an almost faultless run in their Focus WRC Mike O’Brien & Sam Collis followed up there success on the Swansea Bay Clubman rally with another win, just a week later. Damian Cole & Ella Flynn (Accent WRC) were second after losing time on the first stage with a broken diff before mechanical woes struck again later on halting their progress. Completing the top three were Ian & Martyn England in their Evo IX. Read More »

coarcle08_frontA cracking summers day saw a small piece of history as Mark Higgins, co-driven by Jessica Gwynne, recorded the first overall victory for a S2000 car in the UK, along with the first win for the MG ZR S2000.

Behind a near capacity field battled away, providing great action all day.
