Defender Scottish Hill15This weekend, the Defender Challenge by Bowler meets for the final time this season at The Scottish Hill Rally Club’s ‘Borders’ rally. In the climax to the 2015 calendar, the 11 competing teams have one last opportunity to improve their standing in the championship.

Going into the final round, and sitting comfortably at the top of the table with a 20-point lead, is Sturgess Land Rover driven by 2014 Champion Ed Cobley and his co-driver John Tomley who are followed by Lookers Land Rover driven by Gareth Carruthers and co-driver Wallace McKay in second place. In unseasonable and unexpected snow storms, the second round of the 2015 Defender Challenge by Bowler took place at the Sweet Lamb complex in North Wales at the weekend.

Despite the near freezing temperatures, spirits remained high amongst the 10 teams competing, taking the sleet, snow and rain in their stride and even remarking how well the adverse conditions suited the Defender 90s they were racing. Read More »

Round one of the 2015 season of the Defender Challenge by Bowler sped into action this weekend at the BTRDA Somerset Stages rally.

Nine competing teams gathered on the seafront at Minehead on Saturday morning to realise a winter season of preparations and improvements to their Bowler modified Land Rover Defender 90 vehicles. Amongst them were four new teams and five returning teams. Read More »

Over 160 rally crews from around the UK will head to Minehead in April as the ever popular Somerset Stages Rally moves back to the seaside resort after a year away from the town.  The 18th April event was forced to move to Bridgewater in 2014 due to a lack of available space in the area, but will bring competitors in the BTRDA National Gravel rally championship back to the North coast this year.

The Beach Hotel will play host to Rally Headquarters during the event and the teams will base themselves along the seafront for service as the crews head out into Exmoor to tackle stages in the surrounding forests and now familiar blast along the Porlock Toll Road. Teams competing on the biggest rally series in the country will contest the April event as part of the 10-round BTRDA championship and event organisers Burnham-on-Sea Motor Club and Minehead Motor Club are overjoyed to be back in Minehead for 2015.   Read More »
