Perthshire born junior rally driver Blair Brown (21) left last weekend’s 138.com Rally Isle of Man (15 – 17th September) with another notch in his motorsport CV having competed in all seven rounds of the DMACK Junior British Rally Championship 2016.

After a disappointing DNF at the Ulster Rally last month and knowing a podium position was out of his reach, the young Scot was aiming, above all else, to record a finish this time around. Blair Brown Fiesta R2T (2)  UlsterKinross driver, Brown and co-driver Richard Simmonds from Duns went into the weekend looking to boost their championship position aiming for a top five finish and double points by playing their Joker nomination on the penultimate round of the DMACK Junior British Rally Championship. The legendary two-day Irish event provided 134 miles of gruelling and technically challenging Tarmac stages and with the interchangeable weather conditions it was never going to be easy for the young Scottish team. This year’s Nicky Grist Stages podium finish celebrations will be held on the banks of the River Wye, overlooking Builth Wells’ 18th Century bridge, at 14.00 on Sunday 10 July – as the event brings a new picturesque ending to Round 5 of the 2016 MSA British Rally Championship.

After all 100 stage miles have been completed, the top three overall finishers in the BRC, together with the three highest placed DMACK Junior BRC crews and the BRC class winners (together with their cars), will be invited to spray the champagne at Groe Park – a short distance from the rally headquarters and the event service area at the Royal Welsh Showground.

Local dignitaries, including the Mayor of Builth Wells, motorsport photographers and TV camera crews from Channel 4, BT Sport and S4C will all attend the finish ceremony. Entry is free and fans are very welcome to come and see the stars of the BRC celebrate conquering the only mixed-surface event in the BRC. Read More »

BBR pirelliThe only competing Scottish junior rally team, Blair Brown Rallying will be looking for success on the next round of the 2016 DMACK Junior MSA British Rally Championship at the RSAC Scottish Rally next weekend (Saturday 25th June). The event, based in and around Dumfries, is the closest thing to their home round of the series. Swedish star Fredrik Ahlin and his Norwegian co-driver Morten Erik Abrahamsen driving for local team CA1 Sport, made it three different winners in the opening three rounds of this year’s MSA British Rally Championship with victory on last weekend’s Pirelli Carlisle Rally (April 30/May 1).

The 24-year-old in his Pirelli-shod Ford Fiesta R5 became the first Swedish driver since 1995 to win a round of Britain’s premier rallying series. Along with the win, Ahlin played his ‘Joker’ which doubled his points allowing him to overtake rival Elfyn Evans at the top of points standings. Blair Brown Mid Wales Stages 2Kinross junior rally driver, Blair Brown and co-driver, Richard Simmonds of Duns will be hoping to secure a finish in round three of this year’s DMACK Junior British Rally Championship to be held next weekend (30 April – 1 May) in the Northumberland Keilder Forest. Blair last attempted the Pirelli Carlisle Rally two years ago in his Peugeot 205 but after securing a class win on the first day bad luck of a broken gearstick meant a “did not finish” for the young rally driver. Next weekend the duo will once again undergo 75 miles of fast challenging gravel stages in an attempt to complete the unfinished business of this legendary rally and secure further points in their BRC campaign.
