Carlisle Stages pre16With continued title sponsorship from DMACK, the 2016 Carlisle Stages (Saturday 11 June) will offer 44 stage miles in the Kershope and Newcastleton complexes for contenders in the BTRDA Rally Series and several regional championships.

The rally will be a round of the Ravenol BTRDA Rally Series, the MSA English Rally Championship, the BTRDA Rally Challenge, the S G Petch Association of North East and Cumbria Car Clubs Stage Rally Championship, the Motoscope Northern Historic Rally Championship and the Association of Northern Car Clubs Forest Challenge. Quentin Mitchell Voi RallyThe QMR Rally Team, supported by Shell V-Power and Velvex Tissue, is ready to overcome adversity and are headed to the forthcoming KCB Eldoret Rally in positive spirits. Their Skoda S2000 supercar, which races on D-Mack Tyres, has been fully rebuilt and team driver Quentin Mitchell has recently returned from an ambassadorial trip to the United States of America where he spoke at a convention about the power of motorsport in modern marketing. WWRS15 Carlisle APhil Burton and Mal Capstick won again in the fifth round of the West Wales Rally Spares R.A.C. Rally Championship, Saturday’s DMACK Carlisle Stages (13 June). They were also third overall two-wheel drive car on the rally.

Burton’s crew had to resolve some rear suspension issues at second service after the rough section in Chamot Hill. He then attacked in the final 14-miler in Kershope before catching the dust of another car but still arrived back at the finish as the leading R.A.C. finisher once more in his Open Category Ford Escort Mk2. “We caught Brian Bell’s Focus WRC in the last stage and did eight miles in his dust,” said Burton. Phil_Hall_PR10_15_CSRCo-Driver Phil Hall takes four wins from four starts in BTRDA Rally Series and grabs MSA English Rally Championship podium spot.

Ambitious rally co-driver Phil Hall continued his dominance of the REIS-Ravenol BTRDA Rally Series B10 class last weekend as he guided rapid Fiesta pilot Rhys Yates to another dominant victory at the fifth round of the championship, the DMACK Carlisle Stages.  The result in the Kielder forest complex based event means Hall now tops the points tables in not only a class position, but also grabs a MSA English Rally Championship overall podium spot in the standings too. MG ZR pilot George Morrison finishes the Carlisle Stages in season comeback.

With two non-finishes to his name in 2015 thanks to a series of mechanical misfortunes, George Morrison took his MG ZR to its first finish of the year in one of the toughest events in the REIS-Ravenol BTRDA Rally Series calendar, the DMACK Carlisle Stages.  Based entirely in the Kielder forest complex, the stages are renowned for catching the unwary but Morrsion took it all in his stride, nursing the MG around the rough stages to reach the Longtown finish ninth in the 1400C class.

The HM Forces Mechanic from Tidworth in Wiltshire was all set to have co-driving wife Emma in the passenger seat for the first time on the event, but a back injury during the week meant a replacement would need to be sought. Read More »
