Damp conditions soaked the Donington Park circuit for the latest round of the circuit rally championship. With Storm Freya on the way crosswinds would play their part in the afternoon too but it did little to stop the Smith’s. Pete Smith & John Millington (Fiesta WRC) set the pace through stage one before son Guy, co-driven by Pat Walsh, took the 2nd stage in their Fiesta R5. Pete then went fastest on stage 3 to extend his lead before Guy took stage 4 to leave them tied at the lunchbreak. The 2019 Donington Historic Festival promises to be the most action-packed yet. Fifteen grids will take to the track across 18 races, when a hugely diverse range of more than 400 classic racing cars spanning nine decades converge on Donington Park from all over the world.

The MG Car Club’s Motorsport activities for the 2019 season have been confirmed with a six race calendar for the Club’s six Championships.

The McLaren 570S GT4 scored a memorable 1-2-3 finish in the two-hour British GT Championship season finale at Donington Park, with customer teams Equipe Verschuur and Tolman Motorsport finishing with cars on the podium.

For the final qualifying of the 2018 season, the 570S GT4 showed strong pace, with three examples in the top five grid slots. The Equipe Verschuur driving duo of Finlay Hutchison and Daniel McKay proved the quickest McLaren over the one lap sprint, lining up second on the grid. Read More »

History was made at Donington Park today (September 22/23) when Flick Haigh and Jonny Adam finished fourth on the road to claim the 2018 British GT title. Haigh becomes the first woman to win the series’ premier class whilst Adam now stands alone as the only driver to win three overall championships. Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen took a second victory of the season in their Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini after finishing second on the road but benefitting from a post-race 30-second time penalty handed to Mark Farmer and Nicki Thiim. The TF Sport Aston Martin therefore finished runner-up with the podium completed by ERC Sport’s Mercedes-AMG shared by Lee Mowle and Yelmer Buurman. Read More »
