Our first visit to Aberfeldy for the Colin McRae Forest Stages was also the first visit for the BHRC crews and was also their championship finale. Conditions on the day of the rally were certainly challenging with heavy rain and fog blighting the stages. Unsurprisingly it was experience that shone through as Stig Blomqvist & Anna Goni (Escort MkII) took a comfortable victory from Simon Tysoe & Cliffy Simmons (Escort MkII) with David Stokes & Guy Weaver (Escort MkI) just behind in 3rd overall. However Stokes took the post Historic class victory and had done more than enough to secure back to back titles. His only challenger Rikki Proffitt, co-driven by Phill Harrison in his Porsche 911, broke a driveshaft on the final stage and retired from the event. For the first time, contenders in the Dunlop/Wonago MSA British Historic Rally Championship will compete over gravel stages in Scotland as the championship makes its debut on the Colin McRae Stages (Saturday 1 October). The Aberfeldy-based event will now be the final round of the 2011 championship.

Over the last two months, the leading crews have competed on the asphalt closed roads of Ulster and Flanders in Belgium, but now the focus switches back to gravel for the final event of the season; the first time on gravel since the Severn Valley Stages in early June. Read More »

Following the news that the 2011 Rally Isle of Man has been cancelled, organisers of the Dunlop/WONAGO MSA British Historic Rally Championship have confirmed that the event will not be replaced in the 2011 schedule and that this year’s championship will now be held over seven events.

The Rally Isle of Man, scheduled for 28/29 October, was to have been the final round of the championship, but that honour will now fall to the Colin McRae Stages on Saturday 1 October. Read More »

It is with great disappointment that the Board of Directors of Rally Isle of Man today announces the cancellation of the 2011 event which was due to run on 27–29th October.

The rally, which is the Island’s only event that is a round of an international motorsport championship, has suffered a series of major blows that have led to the decision.

The organisers, Rally Isle of Man Limited, had moved to a mid-autumn date this year as part of the requirements of the Isle of Man Government, which has historically been the primary event backer. Read More »

The fifth round of the Dunlop/WONAGO.com MSA British Historic Rally Championship, the Ulster Historic Rally, will first be screened on Motors TV at 7pm on Sunday 18 September.

As well as the initial prime-time slot on Motors TV, each programme will have several repeats in the week after the initial transmission. The coverage will include spectacular in-car footage from the high-speed and challenging Ulster stages. Read More »

After rave reviews for the 2010 event, contenders in the Dunlop/Wonago MSA British Historic Rally Championship return to the Todds Leap Ulster Historic Rally (19/20 August) for round five of the championship.

The event marks the start of the asphalt element of the championship and comes after four gravel rallies in and a strong BHRC contingent is within the 48-strong historic event for the Antrim-based rally. Read More »
