18-year-old Ed Fossey claimed a hard fought podium on the Woodpecker Rally last weekend (2 September). After the championship summer break, the Jerseyman returned to rallying action in fine form as he claimed 51st overall and more importantly third place in class to continue his lead at the summit of the Thomas Panels BTRDA 1400 Championship heading into the season showdown. Jerseyman Ed Fossey continued his fine form in the BTRDA Rally Championship on the Plains Rally last weekend – the third round of gravel rally series. The Yokohama-backed star finished a fine 60th out of 120 competitors, but more importantly the Toyota Yaris driver continues to lead the Thomas Panels 1400S championship after securing his second podium in a row – notching-up third in class on the Welsh gravel. 18-year-old Ed Fossey sprayed the champagne at the weekend on the Somerset Stages Rally (Saturday 8 April), round two of the BTRDA Rally Championship – taking a dominant win in the 1400S class and with it, the championship lead. 18-year-old Ed Fossey got his 2017 BTRDA rallying campaign underway in Cumbria last weekend (11 March) in his Yokohama-backed Toyota Yaris. Starting car 114 on the road, the Jersey-born driver overcame a variety of problems to claim 88th overall and more importantly sixth in the 1400S class on only his second gravel rally in his Japanese machine. The 18-year-old stepped up from the Junior 1000 series at the beginning of 2016 winning ‘The Next Big Step’ scholarship and undertook a development plan last year, selecting several unique events to develop his rallying skills with tarmac running and more importantly several events on a variety of gravel surfaces.
