Kumho Ypres14One of several David and Goliath results achieved by Kumho-shod rally and race cars in recent weeks was Dutch driver Herman Kobus’ 4th place on the Geko Ypres Rally, Belgium (June 19-21) – the 50th running of this ever-popular event. His privately-entered Ford Fiesta S2000 was only beaten by a pair of Works Skodas and an R5 Fiesta, all of which had professional drivers at the helm, and he missed out on a podium by a scant 18 seconds. ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Junior European Rally star Alex Parpottas recovered from an early event roll in the Buzz Sweets Fiesta R2 and score a creditable seventh Junior and 32nd overall at last weekend’s Geko Ypres Rally in Belgium. ypres14-16Much like Le Mans it had been 13 years but our 2nd visit proved to be fantastic and beyond what we did before. The margin was comfortable over Cedric Cherain & Andre Leyh (Fiesta R5) in 2nd place and Sepp Wiegand & Frank Christian (Fabia S2000) who completed the podium. Read More »
