Grey clouds hung over the Epynt military ranges for the Nicky Grist Stages. Euan Thorburn & Paul Beaton (Focus WRC) were on the cusp of taking the championship with a perfect score, but they had 8 tricky stages to complete. The first stage went to plan but stage 2 saw Stephen Petch & Michael Wilkinson (Fiesta WRC) go fastest to close in on Thorburn. Stage 3 saw Thorburn attack and he took 14 seconds out of Petch and by the service break he held a 21s lead with another fastest stage time. 3 more fastest stage times across stages 5-7 saw Thorburn extend his lead to over a minute and a 3rd fastest time saw Thorburn & Beaton home to victory and a perfect score to confirm the 2019 championship title. Dusty conditions greeted the crews as Matt Edwards & Darren Garrod (Fiesta R5) looked to seal the 2018 Gold Star title. They started out well by setting fastest times on all of the opening 3 stages. Luke Francis & John Roberts (Fiesta WRC) were 2nd after setting 2nd fastest times on all 3 stages and in a show of uniform performance, Steve Petch & Michael Wilkinson (Fiesta WRC) were 3rd with 3rd fastest times across the 3 stages. Francis then sent fastest time on stage 4 but still had 27 seconds to make up. Edwards went fastest on the next two stages to hold almost a minutes advantage and could afford to drop 29 seconds on the final stage, as he sealed the title with a round to spare. Read More »

George_Lepley_PR1_15_HeadShotSeventeen year old Nottinghamshire rally star George Lepley will begin his assault on the BTRDA Rally Championship next weekend as he contests the first round of the series, The Weir Engineering Wyedean Forest Rally.  After graduating from the Formula 1000 Junior Rallying championship, Lepley will make the step up to the popular 10 round series which kicks off in Chepstow, Wales on Saturday 14th February.
