The Fifth anniversary of the Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge attending the Glyn Memorial Junior Rally on Anglesey on 25/26th November was celebrated in style when top podium position overall was taken by a Scottish crew after 2 days of tough rallying. A total of 9 crews headed South on Friday 24th to “acclimatise” for the 2 day event which included 4 stages out of 8 in the dark on day 1 followed by a further 8 on day 2. Some had to fight their way through some of the first snow to hit Southern Scotland and everybody got a good “drooking” on the M6. But it was a happy eager bunch who gathered around the Saltire fluttering on the Championship motor home on Saturday morning. glyn-memorial16aThe Glyn Memorial Junior Rally on Anglesey has become the traditional closer for the Brick & Steel Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge. This is the “International” element – we not only compete in a different country but on a separate island!! In past years the rally has taken place during the last weekend in October but moved a month to last weekend in November to accommodate Wales Rally GB!! In 2016, 10 registered crews from the Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge made the trip down to join 16 crews from the Kick Energy Junior 1000 Championship for 2 days of rallying and 25% of the stages in the dark. The furthest travelled Scottish crew was from Inverness – 480 miles each way. Read More »

F1000_PR5_15_GMRWelshpool Junior driver Zak Hughes took his second Kick Energy Junior 1000 Rally Championship win of the year at last weekend’s Glyn Memorial Junior Rally which was based at Angelsey Race Circuit in North Wales. The tough two day event saw the Citroen C1 pilot lead for all but one of the 14 stages and with co-driver Chris Evans, took maximum points to vault him to second place in the series. Tom Delaney/Joe Cruttenden was their nearest rivals, taking second in their Suzuki Alto with Will Butler and Tom Wood finishing third in their Peugeot 107. Read More »

It was a long trip, made longer by the M6 on a Friday afternoon. But after 2 days of testing rallying, everybody made their way home with smiles on their faces. Read More »

stevebrown_angleseypreviewRochdale’s Steve Brown returns to rally competition next weekend when he contests the Glyn Memorial event in his Nissan Micra 1300.

Brown had hoped to use his new Micra but it is not quite ready so he’ll be out in the well-known  Fuchs Titan Race, 710 Oil, Mintex, AP Racing, Six 80 Aviation, Sabelt, Power Maxed and PIAA- supported purple machine that he has used to good effect in recent years. Read More »
