DAVID_weston_jnrDavid Weston Junior grabbed victory at this year’s Coltel Communications Granite City Rally on the final stage of the event, beating rival and pre-event favourite David Bogie. The number one and two seeds finishing tied on times after 42 competitive stage miles in the Aberdeenshire forests and it was left to the event regulations to decide the winner after they both emerged from the final stage of the event in a dead heat. Event organisers would need to look at the winner of the last 10.59 mile Swanley test to decide the overall winner.   Read More »

Five times Scottish Rally Champion David Bogie will lead over 100 crews away from the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Saturday 2nd May for the 2015 Coltel Granite City Rally.  The Ford Fiesta R5+ pilot will be joined by regular co-driver Kevin Rae as the duo aim to emulate their ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship (MSA SRC) round two victory at the Border Counties Rally in March. They will undoubtedly be looking to honour their number one seed on the “Granite” and come back to Scotland fresh from a win at Rally North Wales, just a week after their Border Counties top spot.

SONY DSCBlair Brown and the QTS Group backed rally team, broke through the fog, mist and eye watering stench of fuel at last week’s McCombie Builders Granite City rally to take second place position in round two of the 2014 Ecosse 205 Challenge in their newly built Peugeot 205.  The Aberdeen based rally was also the host of round three in the Scottish Rally Championships where Blair and Co-driver Richard Simmonds from Duns took third place in SRC class three finishing 46th overall out of 111 starters. Two points separate frontrunners Euan Thorburn and David Bogie going into the third round of the ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship in Aberdeen on Saturday, April 26th.

Defending champions Bogie and co-driver Kevin Rae will be targeting their fourth McCombie Builders Granite City Rally win, after a dominant display on the Border Counties last month in their Ford Focus WRC, while Thorburn and Paul Beaton, also in a Focus, are looking to regain the upper hand following victory on the season-opener in Inverness.

The “Granite” has attracted another first-class entry of 110 crews, who will tackle forty-four miles of classic forest stages in Kincardineshire. Read More »

Defending champion David Bogie threw down the gauntlet to his challengers with a convincing win on Saturday’s Coltel Granite City Rally – his third victory on the Aberdeen-based event in the past four years.

The Dumfries driver led from start to finish in his ex-Colin McRae Ford Focus WRC to complete the five stages in a total time of 42 mins 25 secs, nearly one and a half minutes ahead of runner up Chris Collie from Aberdeen in a Mitsubishi EVO 6. The MSA British Rally Championship’s Mark Taylor and Caroline Reid will be observing this weekend’s Granite City Rally, invited to the Aberdeen-based event by the organising committee which is keen for the rally to be a round of the BRC.

Aberdeenshire driver Quintin Milne will have home support as he targets a third consecutive victory in the ARR Craib MSA Scottish Championship  on Saturday April 20th.

Milne won impressively in treacherous conditions on last month’s Border Counties, and will be looking to take maximum points on the Coltel Granite City Rally, which has attracted a strong field of 113 entries.

The Banchory competitor, who celebrated his debut SRC win on the final Colin McRae Stages round last year, will line up his Mitsubishi EVO 9 as third seed, alongside co-driver Martin Forrest from Aberdeen. Read More »
