Master of Midshires (1)This is starting to become a regular thing! Thanks to the night boat back to Heysham we made it to our 2nd Master of Midshires in a row and the contrast with the Isle of Man could not have been more stark. Warwickshire was enjoying its warmest day of 2016 and the Victory Field track needed constant damping down to try and help with the dust. midshires15 (38)Only our 2nd ever grasstrack sidecar meeting, (usually due to returning from the Isle of Man), saw overcast but dry weather conditions. It was almost perfect and the ‘A’ final saw Rod Winterburn & Liam Brown take a hard fought win in the 1000cc sidecar final from Gareth & Billy Winterburn with Colin Blackborn & Carl Pugh completing the top 3 overall. The ‘big chairs’ as they are affectionately called really are something else to watch but the solos or uprights make up the bulk of the races. In the premier 500cc class James Shaines came out victorious from Paul Cooper after a superb battle in the final. Read More »

Bank Holiday Monday and something new for us at 90right. The closest motorsport event to home yet as we went to Victory field, Ashorne to take in the Geoff Gosling Memorial Grasstrack meeting. The action was frenetic with the ‘Big Chairs’, (1000cc sidecars), being especially spectacular. Dust played havoc with the meeting though and ultimately it was cut short due to rider and spectator safety in the increasing dust clouds, which is fair enough when you have up to 9 riders on track at any one time.
