SONY DSCLegendary rally drivers, navigators and cars that competed in Marathon Rallies from the late ‘60s to the early ‘90s will reunite for the Historic Marathon Rally Show, held on Sunday 31st May at the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon, Warwickshire.

This brand new event, free to the public, will celebrate the exploits and endeavours of those men, women and cars that competed in International Historic Rallies pre 1982 with emphasis on Marathon cars of this period such as the 1968 London to Sydney Marathon, the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally, the 1974 London-Sahara-Munich World Cup Rally, right up to the second 1977 London to Sydney Marathon. Entries are building rapidly for Mini Britannia as the entry closing date of 14 September approaches. The one-day classic race and rally tour, the little brother of Tour Britannia, will run on Saturday 13 October from a base at Silverstone. Read More »

Another year and another trip to the Heritage Motor Museum for the 2012 HRCR Open Day. Once again the main category winners from 2011 had their cars on display, plus a smattering of others outside the museum. With all the major events for the 2012 season also represented at the show, it gave a valuable insight into some interesting plans for 2012. Read More »

Bigger than before and taking up more space inside the Heritage Motor Centre too, the 2011 HRCR Open Day kicked off the historic rally season and our season at 90right also. With Saab and the RAC rally taking the limelight, the cars on display reflected this celebration. mini-groupAnother start of the year trip to the Heritage Motor Centre beckoned as the HRCR had their annual open day, at Gaydon. This year was totally dominated by Mini’s, as the Longbridge (& Cowley) icon celebrates it’s 50th year.

Examples of other historic cars were also on display plus, as in 2008, there was an autotest in a closed off part of the public car park. The cold and crisp conditions certainly made that more entertaining too! Read More »
