A cracking day out in the Peak District saw victory for the BMW 323i of Angus McQueen & Mike Cochrane with main championship protagonists Alistair Leckie & Matt Outhwaite close behind in their Saab 900 Turbo. McQueen & Cochrane took victory by 21s, 11s of which came from the superb tactical use of the joker. Completing the top 3 were Nick & Andy Pullan (Hillman Imp Deluxe) who were 18s behind. After eight regularities and eight tests in a compact 149 mile route, Angus McQueen and Mike Cochrane scored their second win of 2021, (BMW 323i) by just six seconds from another 2021 podium sitting crew, Alastair Leckie and Matt Outhwaite (SAAB 900 Turbo). Four crews were involved in the frontline ‘War of the Wolds’ including Paul Bloxidge and his 15 year old star navigator grandson, Oli Waldock and the impressive John Lomas and Pete Johnson in their 1936 Riley Sprite, really taking it to the moderns with a superb third place podium for the vintage car. Taking place over 3 days it was Angus McQueen & Mike Cochrane (BMW 323i) took victory in the Shropshire countryside. They had previously finished on the podium twice and were ecstatic to take victory. Behind them were Paul Bloxidge & Oli Waldock (VW Golf GTI), a superb effort for the 15yr old navigator. Completing the podium were Andy Simpson & Roger Bricknell (Mini Clubman GT). Meanwhile in the Masters class it was Stuart & Emily Anderson who took victory in their 1937 Bentley Derby. Read More »

Starting and finishing at Bicester Heritage the Per Ardua Ad Infinitum was a triumph to even start. Less than 24 hours before the event started new tiers were introduced for areas on the route, requiring a rapid change to the planned itinerary. With a very hard route, in terms of navigation, Paul Crosby & Andy Pullan took victory in their Porsche 911. Darell & Nicky Staniforth (Mini Cooper S) were an excellent 2nd after dropping back in the latter part of the event. The organisers of the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show have launched a brand new classic tour in partnership with HERO Events Ltd to run alongside its 2016 event, held at Birmingham’s NEC from 11-13 November.

The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show Tour in association with Zenith watches will see classic car owners journey as part of a group to the NEC using a traditional tulip road book. The Tours will depart from Pershore in the West Midlands, Llangollen in Wales, and Derbyshire in the East Midlands on Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning of the show, with the aim of arriving at the by lunchtime.

On arrival, the Tour entrants will enjoy dedicated parking and entry to the show as well as a ticket for the following day, with Sunday participants offered a ticket for Friday or Saturday. They will also receive a certificate and other souvenirs. Read More »

In 2015 HERO organised a taster event in conjunction with Race Retro as a prelude to the Retro Classic Tour in 2016. The 2015 event took place on the Sunday of the show and although starting from Stoneleigh, the finish was located in the South of the country.

The Retro Classic Tour 2016 will see some significant changes from the 2015 format. Once again organised by HERO in conjunction with Race Retro, the Retro Classic Tour will take place on Saturday 27th February, starting and finishing on the front apron adjacent to the main entrance to Race Retro. Intended for cars built before 1992, younger cars will be accepted provided that the model was in production prior to 1992 (other cars of interest or with a “pedigree” may be accepted at the discretion of the organiser).
