Geoff Mayes Safari Rally02Zimbabwean born safari guide Geoff Mayes and his Scottish codriver Jamie Mactavish have realized a life-long dream when they guided their rear wheel drive Toyota Levin to fifth in class on the just ended KCB Safari Rally. The three day marathon saw over half the field drop out through a variety of problems, but Mayes and Mactavish successfully guided their Silverspread Meru and Maxxis Tyres supported Toyota to the finish line on Sunday evening. Mayes will be joined onboard his two wheel drive Toyota Levin by Scotsman Jamie Mactavish as the pair once again use this world famous event to raise awareness for “Hands off our Elephants”, the global social media campaign aimed at raising awareness about elephant poaching. Geoff and JamieZimbabwean born safari guide, Geoff Mayes, is all set to make his driving debut on the forthcoming KCB Safari Rally. Having first worked as a professional photographer on the rally and then co-driven on the past two editions Geoff will now swap seats for this, the 62nd edition of the world famous event. And Geoff will once more be raising awareness for a cause that is very close to his heart, the plight of the African elephant, by promoting the “Hands off our Elephants” campaign on his rally car.
