The ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship (SRC) was well represented on last weekend’s penultimate round of the World Rally Championship, Dayinsure Wales Rally GB.

Crews from the championship have won the National event for the past four years, with 2016 winners Bruce McCombie and Michael Coutts heading this year’s entry list in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX. John Wink and John Forrest (Hyundai i20 R5), Simon Hay and Calum Jaffray (Mitsubishi Evo VI) and Alasdair Graham and Laura Stuart (Mitsubishi Evo IX) also all featured among the top seeds. ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship (SRC) front runner Bruce McCombie will head away an 81 strong entry list at this weekend’s Wales Rally GB National Rally and the field is packed with SRC crews aiming for glory in the Welsh forests.

The Wales Rally GB National runs alongside the penultimate round of the 2017 World Rally Championship and sees the competitors take on 60 competitive stage miles across two days of action.

The event has been won by Scottish Rally Championship crews ever since 2013 when Euan Thorburn and Paul Beaton took victory in their Ford Focus WRC. Mike Faulkner and Peter Foy took over the baton in 2014 and 2015, taking victory in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX before McCombie and co-driver Michael Coutts excelled last year in a similar machine. Grampian16 PodiumAberdeen based rally ace David Weston Jnr took an impressive victory at todays (Saturday 13th August) Coltel Grampian Stages despite being out from of competitive action since his Nicky Grist Stages victory in July 2015.   The Subaru Impreza WRC pilot was guided by Welshman Aled Davies and the duo were never bettered in the Stonehaven and District Motor Club organised event in which almost 100 crews from across the UK competed in the forests of Kincardineshire.   Read More »

John MacCrone’s return to his rallying roots and Tom and Sue Hynd’s early return from holiday in the S of France were both rewarded with success on the 2011 RSAC Scottish Rally in the forests around Dumfries on Saturday 25th June.

John MacCrone 21, and from Mull, got a late “call-up” to drive the Brick & Steel supported Honda Civic Type R on the third round of the 2011 Brick & Steel Civic Ecosse Challenge. So with a couple of months break until the next British Rally Championship event in his Team Scotland Fiesta R2, John did not need much persuading. Read More »

Isle of Mull rally ace John MacCrone has won the inaugural 2009 Hankook Scottish Rally Championship Junior Prize Drive – which will see him compete in a fully supported Group N car on an international event in China.

The 20-year-old – who learned of his success at the SRC awards ceremony in Glasgow on Saturday – said he was “absolutely flabbergasted” at winning such a prestigious prize. Read More »
