Just 2 weeks after taking victory on Round 3 of the 2018 Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge, Johnnie Mackay/Gordon Reid (Suzuki Alto) repeated the success on Round 4 – The Summer Junior Stages Rally at Crail Raceway on 9th June. But they had to fight harder for the result. Going into the final stage – stage 5 – they were tied with Lewis Haining/George Myatt (Skoda Citigo) after the lead had swung back and fore over the first 3 stages – Haining by 3 seconds after stage 1; Haining by 2 secs after stage 2 and Mackay by 1 after stage 3!! But it was Mackay who took the advantage in the final stage and came out 2 seconds ahead. Round 4 of the 2017 Championship was the Granite Junior Stages at Leuchars on 27th May 2017 and this time it was the turn of Johnnie Mackay/Gordon Reid in their Suzuki Alto to stand on the top of the podium. Read More »

Round 3 of the 2017 Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge was the EACC 5 Star Junior Stages at Kames Motorsport Complex, Muirkirk on 7th May 2017 – a very different challenge compared to rounds 1 and 2  for the young drivers with short, narrow and very technical stages. The sun belted down all day (leaving a few lobsters to suffer the next day), the competition was close , there were some mechanical dramas but no serious incidents. 9 Juniors started and 9 recorded finishes but 4 collected stage maximums for mechanical issues and a “wee off”. The Royal Highland Showground at Ingliston was the setting for the first event of the 2017 Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge – the first outing since Anglesey in November 2016 .  Eleven young drivers – all aged 15 to 16 – gathered with their 1000cc rally cars to see who would be in contention to be 2017 Champion. Dunfermline Car Club  were the organisers of the 8 stage, 25 mile Blackwood Plant Hire sponsored  DCC Junior Stages. This would be the first time back at Ingliston for the Juniors  since 2013 and the Junior only Sunday event – which took the same effort  to run  as the 80 car Senior event on the day before – was a really welcome and appreciated addition to the Championship calendar.
