KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAAnother epic rally in Northern England & Southern Scotland with not quite as good a field as in 2010. Still that did not dampen the spirits and in fact the rally ended in a very snowy Kershope, reminiscent of the 2010 event. The overall winner looked set early on as Gwyndaf Evans & John Millington (Escort MkII) dominated. They went on to win by almost 8 minutes in the end, after consistently increasing their lead each day of the event. The only crew who got close to them were Paul Griffiths & Sam Collis (Escort MkII) but they retired on the 3rd day after suspension damage following an off in the Ae stage. Read More »

A truly epic 7th instalment of the Roger Albert Clark Rally saw Stefaan Stouf & Joris Erard (Escort MkI) take a well earned victory, after a superb measured drive all event long. 2nd place was only decided on the 4th day of the event as Gwyndaf Evans & John Millington (Escort MkII)) eased past Andrew Haddon & Mark Crisp (Escort MkII) on the penultimate stage to finish 2nd, just over a minute behind the winners. 4th place was also sorted out on the final day in the favour of Paul Griffiths & Sam Collis (Escort MkII). Lying 5th overnight Griffiths decided to attack on the final two stages and managed to overhaul Phil Collins & Nicky Grist (Ascona 400) to secure 4th place. The main heroes of the event though were not the competitors as the rally even running was a miracle and full credit must go to Colin Heppenstall and his team for making changes on an almost hourly basis to keep the event going. Each of the four events offers something different and they allow competitors to sample the atmosphere of the main event at a modest outlay. Another epic 3 days in Northern England and Southern Scotland was had by all, even if the weather conditions proved a little trying. Now in it’s 6th year the Roger Albert Clark had it’s sixth different winner as Gwyndaf Evans took a comfortable victory, only letting the pace ease in the final two stages. He was co-driven in the Viking Motorsport Escort MkII by the 2008 winning co-driver John Millington. Behind them was an impressive Jeremy Easson & Alun Cook in their Escort MkI, who kept the car on the road and out of any major dramas. The main battle on the final day was for 3rd place. Paul Griffiths & Sam Collis (Escort MkII) just held on by 3 seconds from the hard charging Steve Bannister & Kevin Rae (Escort MkII). Read More »
