matteo-reaches-one-thousandThis weekend sees the first off road rally raid of 2017 taking place in the Kongoni region of Naivasha. The event headquarters will be the Ranch House Bistro on Moi South Lake Road which has combined with Chui Lodge and Kiangazi House to support a tree planting initiative to help off-set the carbon footprint from the motorsport event.

The 2017 Kenyan Rally Raid Championship sees the debut of a number of new vehicles, all seeking to take on the might of the Rally Raid legends, such as Ian Duncan and Gray Cullen. As such the opening round is expected to be full of action when the first vehicle sets off this Saturday. Read More »

After impressing on their debut on the Baringo Rally Raid in April, Professional safari guide Geoff Mayes and Naivasha resident Suzanne Zwager will reunite for the third round of the 2016 Kenyan Rally Raid Championship. The pair will use the very same Silverspread Meru supported V8 rally raid car which Mayes used to scored a class podium on the recent KCB Safari Rally.

Mayes and his chief mechanic, Pete Young, have completed a thorough examination of their rally raid car after the tough and gruelling Safari Rally, an event which Mayes tasted champagne with a fine podium finish, and after a basic spanner check the rally raid car, affectionately called “the flying elephant” will be ready for this weekends event in Naivasha. Three time Kenyan National Rally Raid Champion Nish Lakhani has vowed to fight for his fourth consecutive title when the 2013 season begins around Mount Kenya this weekend. The final round of the 2012 Kenyan National Rally Raid Championship will take place on Kedong Ranch this weekend and this two day event promises action aplenty as all defending champions have confirmed their attendance. All four categories still need to be resolved and as such a number of competitors on bikes, cars, buggies and quads are expected to make the trip to the shores of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley.

Double Rally Raid Champion Nish Lakhani was back to his winning ways on the recent Masinga Dam based event when he powered his Landrover V8 monster to victory. After two days and over 180 kilometres of a variety of testing terrain, Nish and new co-driver Teeku Patel were overjoyed to take maximum points from the third round of the 2012 championship. The Tomcat Africa team scored their best ever result in the Kenyan Rally Raid Championship when both cars finished on the podium at the end of two days of tough racing at the recent Masinga Dam event. Simon Sharpe and co-driver Crispin Kennedy powered their Kick Energy Platz hybrid to their second consecutive victory of the 2012 Kenyan Rally Raid Championship over the weekend.
