Kumho Jennings Galway16bGarry Jennings achieved a memorable overall victory on last weekend’s Corrib Oil Galway International Rally (February 5-7), using his Kumho-shod Subaru Impreza to beat three-times British Rally Champion Keith Cronin’s Citroën DS3 into second place by almost 3.5 minutes.

Kumho Barum15aConsidering the Dutch pairing of Hermen Kobus and Erik de Wild were experiencing the first major event in their new Skoda Fabia R5, a result of 8th overall in the Barum Czech Rally Zlín (August 29/30) was a mighty impressive result. But for a harmless spin on the second day it would in fact have been 7th, as the Skoda was a bare six seconds behind the Peugeot 208 T16 of Craig Breen at the finish! Read More »

Gamble pre-Woodpecker15The Kumho Tyres shod Swift pairing are aiming to take no less than the 1400 honours next weekend, when they will be tackling the Event Signs Woodpecker Stages Rally on Saturday 5th September which they took the 1400 victory on last year.

The event, starting in Ludlow, Mid Wales is a counting round of the BTRDA Kick Start 1400 Rally Championship, of which Mark Gamble & his co-driver; Steve Link last competed in the Plains Rally back in May, where they led the first stage until they unfortunatley retired with a mechanical issue. Kumho Finland15As a newcomer to the World Rally Championship (WRC), little was expected from the 31-year-old Finnish driver Janne Eronen on the most recent championship round, the Neste Oil Rally Finland. Eronen’s own ambition was to be at least the fastest novice contestant, so the entire team was ecstatic when he and co-driver Ville Mäkelä not only won the novice prize, but were fastest overall in the production class with their Mitsubishi Evo IX. After winning the Goodwood Festival of Speed rally shootout at the end of June Wright had high hopes of a good result in the Llandovery-based event, which was a round of the BTRDA rally championship. Read More »

Kumho Goodwood15Three strong showings in previous Goodwood Festival of Speed rally shootouts netted David Wright an invite for last weekend’s (June 26-28) event, an honour he repaid by beating some of the fastest drivers in British rallying to win the prestigious competition outright in his Kumho-shod Ford Focus WRC.

Wright was on the pace from the very start of the three-day event, setting fastest time of all on the Friday in his Martini-liveried ex-Carlos Sainz Focus. Read More »

davidwright_fos15Rally driver David Wright enjoyed a hugely successful Goodwood Festival of Speed when he beat some of the fastest drivers in British rallying to win the shootout event, which was held over the three days of the festival at Goodwood House in Sussex.

Bentham-based Wright was invited to appear at the prestigious event in his Kumho Tyres and Grove Hill Garage-supported Ford Focus WRC, a car which has been used at world championship level by Spanish champion Carlos Sainz. Read More »

Kumho Donegal15aGarry Jennings achieved a sensational overall victory on last weekend’s Joule Donegal International Rally (June 19-21), using his Kumho-shod Subaru S12B to beat Declan Boyle’s Ford Fiesta WRC into second place by no less than 1 minute 7.1 seconds. This is the second time 2013 Irish Rally Champion Jennings has won the island’s premier event in the last four years. It was also a highly notable result for his Letterkenny-based co-driver Rory Kennedy, who last triumphed in his home rally exactly 20 years ago, and has since become the most successful co-driver in the history of the Irish Tarmac championship.
