fossey-2017-announce-bJersey-born rally star Ed Fossey will contest a full year of rallying in 2017 as he commits to the national British Trials and Rally Drivers Association (BTRDA) Championship aboard his Yokohama-backed Toyota Yaris.

The 18-year-old stepped up from the Junior 1000 series at the beginning of 2016 winning ‘The Next Big Step’ scholarship and undertook a development plan last year, selecting several unique events to develop his rallying skills with tarmac running and more importantly several events on a variety of gravel surfaces. Sam_Bilham_MWRallyBingley rally ace Sam Bilham took a convincing fourth in class at the Malcolm Wilson Rally last weekend and was duly rewarded with the lead of the 2016 Fiesta ST Trophy and BTRDA Production Cup for his efforts. After a confidence boosting third on the series opening Cambrian Rally in February, Bilham and co-driver Richard Crozier netted another strong result which vaulted them to the top of the leader board after the second round of the Ravenol BTRDA Rally series. PR_TKR_MW01Burton upon Stather’s Tim Kirvan-Rodgers enjoyed a successful Malcolm Wilson rally last weekend when he finished third in class and third in the Fiesta ST Trophy championship.

The rally started from Ford’s M-Sport World Rally Team base near Cockermouth in Cumbria and the crews faced 8 tough stages in the Lake District forests. Read More »

PR_DW_MW02Bentham’s David Wright was denied a win on round 2 of the BTRDA rally championship, the Malcolm Wilson rally, last weekend after mechanical issues on the final stage of the event lost him time.

Despite suffering from a lack of brakes for part of the opening Comb stage Wright and co-driver Steve Pugh were third fastest in their Grove Hill Garage and Kumho Tyres-supported Ford Focus WRC. Read More »

malcolmwilson16 (26)Flookburgh rally ace Aaron McClure made a perfect comeback from his Cambrian Rally roll, to take a confidence boosting second in class NR4 and ninth overall at his home event, the Malcolm Wilson Rally (12th March). Along with co-driver Alex Kiruhani, the newly formed duo returned to the stages with a trouble free run in the Cumbrian forests to reignite their BTRDA Rally Series Production Cup chances. malcolmwilson16 (2)An action packed rally up in the Lake District saw Charlie Payne & Carl Williamson take back-to-back victories in the BTRDA championship. It all came after late drama for David Wright & Steve Pugh as their Focus WRC had differential problems, making the car want to swap ends constantly through the final stage. They did inevitably spin and a hard fought 13 second lead became a 23 second deficit handing Payne the win. Connor McCloskey & Damien Duffin (Mini WRC) had been fastest through the first stage but getting stuck in a deep water filled hole on stage 2 ended their rally. Wayne Sisson & Neil Shanks (Evo X) took the final podium spot after a consistent drive throughout the event, just over a minute behind Payne. Read More »

cambrian16 (30)After a three week race against time, Cumbrian rally driver Aaron McClure has repaired his All Floors Express – Yokohama UK Mitsubishi E9 in time for his home event, The Malcolm Wilson Rally.  McClure has faced an uphill struggle to rebuild the car which was significantly damaged in last month’s Cambrian Rally impact. But the Flookburgh ace will now head to the Cockermouth event this weekend to re-start his BTRDA NR4 campaign, thanks to the help of a local business. Read More »

PR_TKR_MW01Burton upon Stather’s Tim Kirvan-Rodgers will start his 2016 rally season on March 12th when he contests the Malcolm Wilson rally in Cumbria.

Kirvan-Rodgers’ last event was the world championship level Wales Rally GB and he took his Ford Fiesta ST to a successful finish, winning the Copart Fiesta Trophy. Following the success of the Trophy event, a full Fiesta ST Trophy championship has been formed for 2016 and the Malcolm Wilson rally is one of the rounds. Read More »

Ambitious British rally co-driver Phil Hall scored a solid start to his MSA English Rally Championship campaign last weekend despite spending three minutes in a Cumbrian ditch. Sitting alongside rapid Fiesta R2 pilot Rhys Yates at the Malcolm Wilson Rally, the duo scored a creditable fourth in class B10. Taking in some infamous stages in the Lake District, the Cockermouth based event provided a challenging set of conditions for Hall to begin his challenge on the popular BTRDA run series.

Having sat with Yates previously in 2014, Hall would be assured of a competitive outing in the newly acquired Fiesta and was keen to see well the duo could do against some perhaps more powerful machinery in the class. Read More »
