Connor McCloskey and Noel O’Sullivan secured victory at today’s MJE Wheel Repair sponsored Tyrone Stages Rally, the final round of the McGrady Insurance MSA Northern Ireland Stage Rally Championship!

Connor McCloskey and Noel O’Sullivan have extended their lead at the MJE Wheel Repair Tyrone Stages Rally. The Fiesta crew top the standings by 17 seconds from Derek McGarrity and Paddy Robinson, with William Creighton and Liam Regan third.

“It’s a lot better now that all my brakes are working again,” McCloskey said when he arrived back into service.

Second-placed Derek McGarrity commented that he’s “going as quick as I can with the rear differential issue” and William Creighton had another clean run and is growing in confidence with the car as each stage progresses.

In fact, Creighton managed to take four seconds out of McGarrity on stage eight and was just two seconds slower than the pace set by the rally leaders. Seven seconds separate him and McGarrity. Read More »

The leading competitors have just left the start ramp at Benone Tourist Park to start the MJE Wheel Repair Tyrone Stages Rally, the seventh and final round of the McGrady Insurance MSA Northern Ireland Stage Rally Championship.

Newly crowned champions, Derek McGarrity and Paddy Robinson, led the field away from the start ramp in their Citroen DS3 R5. The same car was used by Keith Cronin to win the Irish Tarmac Championship and McGarrity is hoping it will bring him just as much fortune at today’s event. Read More »

Josh Moffett and Stephen Thornton have won the McKelvey Asbestos Bushwhacker Rally but Derek McGarrity and Paddy Robinson have been provisionally crowned as the 2018 McGrady Insurance MSA Northern Ireland Stage Rally Champions – and for McGarrity it’s a record eighth title!

Despite retiring from today’s Omagh Motor Club organised event with an oil leak, McGarrity’s two main rivals – Desi Henry and Alan Carmichael – still had to win the rally to stay in the title hunt. Read More »

The demanding forestry stages are starting to take their toll on competitors at the McKelvey Asbestos Bushwhacker Rally, round six of the McGrady Insurance N.I. Rally Championship. Following Derek McGarrity’s retirement after stage three with an oil leak, Barry McKenna is the latest of the top seeds to join the retirement list. His Fiesta has slid into a ditch and although it reportedly has little damage, he is struggling to get back on the road.

Meanwhile, at the top of the order, Josh Moffett and Stephen Thornton continue to lead the event but a spin has caused them some worries for the Fiesta crew.

There was drama after the final stage of the Trailer Parts & Spares Lakeland Stages Rally as the long-time leader, Josh Moffett, struggled to complete the final road section when his Fiesta ground to a halt…

“It could have been temperature related but we don’t really know yet,” Moffett said. “We got through the final stage without any trouble but about halfway through the road section to the finish, the car just stopped. Then it went, and then it stopped again.” Read More »

The Monaghan driver has kept his nose clean over the opening three stages while a number of his rivals have fallen by the wayside. Jonny Greer and Kirsty Riddick have won the Carryduff Forklift Down Rally, round four of the McGrady Insurance MSA Northern Ireland Stage Rally Championship!

Driving his Citroen DS3 R5, the Carryduff man secured the spoils by 20.1 seconds from Portglenone’s Desi Henry, with current N.I. Championship leader Derek McGarrity in third.

Greer was lying in 10th overall after the short opening test in the Eikon Centre complex but he quickly stamped his authority once the event moved on to the closed roads between Hillsborough and Castlewellan.
