The special award winners from the seventh and eighth rounds of the 2017 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship, Rally Isle of Man (14-16 September) have been announced.

Championship newcomers Ken Graham and Rory McCann collected the award for the ‘Best Improvement on Seeding’, which is a set of axle brake pads from Mintex. They pushed their 1600cc Hillman Avenger up to 15th place in the historic field and won Category 2 in the process. Read More »

A trying weekend on the Isle of Man for competitors and especially the organisers saw a thrilling finale to the BRC season. The rally was split into two legs and Keith Cronin, co-driven by Mikie Galvin in his Fiesta R5, won the opening leg by 18.5 seconds. Matt Edwards & Darren Garrod (Fiesta R5) took 2nd place and were now out of the title battle but a 3rd place saw Fredrik Ahlin & Torstein Eriksen (Fabia R5) keep the championship lead. Cronin needed a carbon copy result in the 2nd leg to be champion. It was a little closer than planned but Cronin got a repeat result to take the title, his 4th in the BRC, by 1 point. The gap to Edwards was just 0.1s with Ahlin almost 25 seconds back in 3rd, having lost that time and more after a costly off on the Friday night. Read More »

The TV coverage of rounds five and six of the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship will first be screened on Thursday 17 August at 4.50pm on Motorsport TV.

The programme will then be repeated at 1.10pm on Friday 18 August and at 2.40am on Friday 19 August. Motorsport TV is available on Sky channel 447 and Virgin Media channel 545.

The third programme in the schedule will cover two fast and furious asphalt events as the leading championship contenders headed to Ireland for the ALMC Stages and then to Epynt in Wales for the Harry Flatters Rally. Read More »

John Williams and Gethin Sollis (Ford Escort Mk1), who finished third in Category 2 and won the 1600cc division, collected the award for the ‘Best Improvement on Seeding’, which is a set of axle brake pads from Mintex. Read More »

Jason Pritchard and Phil Clarke took an important victory in round six of the 2017 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship, the Harry Flatters Rally on Epynt (Sunday 30 July).

The result gives Pritchard and Clarke a shot at a third title if they can take maximum points from the remaining three rounds. Championship leaders Nick Elliott and Dave Price were edged back to fourth on the asphalt event by Rob Smith/Alun Cook and Neil Williams/Sion Jones after a tremendous four-way battle of Ford Escort Mk2s. Damian Cole & Paul Morris (Fiesta WRC) took a dominant win on the Harry Flatters. Setting fastest times on all 5 stages they took victory by over a minute from the hard charging Tomas Davies & Wyn Thomas (Fiesta R5). Down on power compared to the WRC machinery this was a good effort, plus Davies finished over a minute ahead of Steve Simpson & Patrick Walsh, who were debuting their own Fiesta R5. The 2017 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship stays on asphalt for round six, the Harry Flatters Rally (Sunday 30 July). After this event, there is a summer break before the season continues on the closed public roads of the Isle of Man.
