Renault Sport Formula One Team posted another double points finish in Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix. Nico Hülkenberg crossed the line in eighth position after a hard charge from eleventh on the grid. Carlos Sainz came home in tenth, giving the team a strong points haul and consolidating fourth position in the Constructors’ Championship.

Nico used a creative strategy to run long on the Ultrasoft tyres to gain track position. By his first stop he was a superb sixth, and rejoined still inside the top ten. One positive after the Spanish Grand Prix is moving into fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship. It is the first time we’ve been in this position since our Formula 1 return and, while it’s very early in the season, it shows we are getting stronger, which gives us motivation for the rest of the season.

Overall Spain was a challenging weekend and we did a good job of recovering from a difficult Friday to a positive points haul on Sunday, courtesy of Carlos’ seventh place. We have some lessons to take away, such as starting the whole event stronger, and making sure reliability is absolutely impeccable – we can’t afford to lose any points in the close fight in the championship. The Force was strong for Renault Sport Formula One Team’s Jolyon Palmer in today’s Grand Prix de Monaco with a season-best eleventh position the result after 78 laps around the most iconic circuit in the Formula 1 galaxy. Jolyon started from P16 and drove a mature race to finish just 1.3 seconds away from the points. Nico Hülkenberg was curtailed in his quest to storm up the order due to a gearbox issue on lap 16.
