worldrx16-argentinaNorway’s Andreas Bakkerud has won World RX of Argentina, the final round of the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy at the wheel of his Hoonigan Racing Division Ford Focus RS RX Supercar. Volkswagen RX Sweden’s Johan Kristoffersson and EKS driver Topi Heikkinen finished second and third.  EKS has clinched the 2016 World RX Teams’ Championship as team-mates Mattias Ekstrom and Topi Heikkinen racked up enough points during qualifying to scoop the coveted title ahead of Team Peugeot-Hansen. Olsbergs MSE driver Kevin Eriksson took the Germany RX win, claiming his first every victory in the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy. In the overall driver standings, it’s Mattias Ekstrom that tops the leaderboard with a 27 point lead over Johan Kristoffersson who is second.  If Ekstrom – who has forfeited the final round of DTM to compete in World RX – is able to establish a gap of more than 30 points this weekend, he will win the 2016 title. worldrx16-pre-latviaThe FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy will visit Latvia for the first time this weekend (1-2 October) as the world’s best rallycross drivers compete at a new state-of-the-art rallycross circuit at Bikernieki, located just 15 minutes from central Riga.  A total of 49 600bhp Supercars will compete in Riga as part of the World RX and Euro RX categories.
