Johan Kristoffersson and KYB Team JC crowned 2020 FIA World Rallycross Champions

In light of continued health concerns regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the organiser of the World Rallycross of Germany, scheduled to take place 12-13 December, has decided to cancel the final event of the 2020 FIA World Rallycross season. As the World RX of Germany event was the last scheduled event of the season, championship points leader Johan Kristoffersson has been named the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Champion, and KYB Team JC win the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Championship for Teams.

Sweden’s Timmy Hansen raced to victory at the Logitech G FIA World RX of Pirineus-Barcelona 2030, round seven of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy (17 October), his first victory since winning the 2019 Drivers’ title.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is the venue for rounds seven and eight of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy this weekend, 17-18 October.

Saturday’s round seven is named to support the local bid for the 2030 Winter Olympics, Logitech G FIA World RX of Pirineus-Barcelona 2030 while round eight on Sunday is named Logitech G FIA World RX of Catalunya.

Sweden’s Johan Kristoffersson claimed his 23rd career victory at the Neste World RX of Riga-Latvia, round five of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy (September 19), to extend his Drivers’ Championship lead.

Neste World Rallycross of Riga-Latvia preview

The Latvian capital, Riga is the venue for rounds five and six of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy this weekend, 19-20 September.

Neste World Rallycross of Riga-Latvia takes place at the Bikernieki circuit 10km east of Riga city centre and will be the fifth time the World Championship has taken place in Latvia.

Spa World RX of Benelux moves to November

Spa World Rallycross of Benelux, the Belgian round of the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Championship, scheduled to take place on 3-4 October, will be postponed to 21-22 November.

The move to November is being made in anticipation of being able welcome a larger number of fans to the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Current restrictions on the size of public gatherings in Belgium mean that only 400 spectators would be admitted to the event in October.
