After an absence of two years, with the 2020 being one of the first events to go as we entered lockdown, it was great to be on the closed roads of Lancashire. A bumper crowd greeted the crews for the ceremonial start in Garstang and there was a good number of spectators on the stages too. Chris Ingram & Craig Drew (Fabia Rally2 Evo) were seeded number 1 and went on to set 11 fastest stage times, out of the 13 stages that ran. Ingram took victory by 52s from a hard charging Paul MacKinnon & Paul Beaton (Fiesta Rally2) with Mark Kelly & Neil Colman (Fiesta R5) 16s back in third place overall. Read More »

The organisers of the Legend Fires North West Stages have decided not to reschedule the rally for later in 2020, but instead concentrate on running the event in March 2021. Read More »

The organisers of the 2020 Legend Fires North West Stages Rally have had to make the very difficult decision to postpone next week’s event in view of the worsening situation with the Coronavirus pandemic.

In addition to the commercial consideration that every day closer to the event leaves us exposed to significantly more financial risk, most importantly we have taken into account the fact that the event attracts competitors, press, support crews and spectators from all over the country and we feel that to continue with the event would not be responsible or in the best interests of the community. The 21st North West Stages, sponsored by Legend Fires, was set to be a memorable rally being only the 2nd closed rally in England and the first in the North. Simon Bowen & Richard Robinson (Impreza WRC) set the early pace going fastest on the first 3 stages before dropping over a minute on the final stage of the opening loop. Peter Taylor & Andrew Roughead (Fiesta WRC) were fastest through that stage to take the lead by 9 seconds in to first service. Alex Laffey & Stuart Loudon (Fiesta R5) were just 9 seconds behind, with Steve Simpson & Pat Walsh (Fiesta R5) tied with them in 2nd overall. Read More »

Motorsport North West can now confirm that they plan to run the Legend Fires North West Stages on Saturday 23rd March 2019, with a move to a new base in the Historic Lancashire market town of Garstang.

Following the change in the Road Traffic Act Legislation in 2017 the organisers took a year’s sabbatical to concentrate on the vast amount of work needed to pursue the possibility of a number of Closed Road Special Stages for the 2019 event. They are now pleased to announce that a an MSA permit has been issued which has allowed an application for a Motor Race Order to be submitted to the Local highways authority, Lancashire County Council.
