Josh Moffett and Stephen Thornton have won the McKelvey Asbestos Bushwhacker Rally but Derek McGarrity and Paddy Robinson have been provisionally crowned as the 2018 McGrady Insurance MSA Northern Ireland Stage Rally Champions – and for McGarrity it’s a record eighth title!

Despite retiring from today’s Omagh Motor Club organised event with an oil leak, McGarrity’s two main rivals – Desi Henry and Alan Carmichael – still had to win the rally to stay in the title hunt. Read More »

Neil Williams and Peter James made a triumphant return to the FUCHS LUBRICANTS MSA British Historic Rally Championship to take maximum points on round five, the Harry Flatters Rally on Epynt (Sunday 29 July).

The Ford Escort Mk2 crew used all their experience of the daunting asphalt stages over the Epynt ranges in Wales as testing weather conditions added to the challenge. Paul Barrett, co-driven by Dai Roberts, strengthened his place at the top of the championship with an excellent second place despite limited prior Epynt knowledge. The special award winners from the fourth round of the 2018 FUCHS LUBRICANTS MSA British Historic Rally Championship, the Red Kite Stages (24 June), have been announced.

Ken Graham and Rory McCann collected the award for the ‘Best Improvement on Seeding’, which is a set of axle brake pads from Mintex. They took their class C2 Hillman Avenger to an impressive 16th overall in the historic results as they battled for class victory. Paul Barrett and new co-driver Will Rogers fought back from early delays to scoop maximum points in round four of the FUCHS LUBRICANTS MSA British Historic Rally Championship, the Red Kite Stages (24 June).

As the event took rallying back into the forests of South Wales for the first time in four years, a fabulous battle raged for BHRC points behind rally winner Osian Pryce. Just 42s covered the top seven championship finishers and Barrett/Rogers scythed ahead of Simon Webster/Jez Rogers to score a last stage victory. Read More »

A glorious battle between Paul Barrett and Matthew Robinson marked round two of the FUCHS LUBRICANTS MSA British Historic Rally Championship on the Pirelli Rally (Saturday 28 April).

After a fierce but entirely sporting contest, Barrett and Dai Roberts took victory by just 8.6s over the similar Ford Escort Mk2 of Robinson and Dave Robson. The deciding stage was the epic 15.39-mile test in The Forks where a blistering attack by Barrett turned the rally in his favour. Read More »

bhrc-pre-trackrod16Jason Pritchard and Phil Clarke head to Yorkshire this weekend for the Trackrod Historic Cup (30 September/1 October) with a strong chance of retaining the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship title.

Following a perfect score on the Isle of Man, Pritchard and Clarke only have to finish in order to secure back-to-back titles in their Ford Escort Mk2. Major rival Paul Barrett will sit at home in Northern Ireland waiting to see if Pritchard hits problems. If the defending champion fails to finish, Barrett will be champion. Read More »

bhrc-iom16dThree category champions in the 2016 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship have been confirmed following the seventh and eighth rounds of the season on the Isle of Man Historic Rally (15-17 September).

With only one round remaining, the Trackrod Historic Cup (30 September/1 October), the winners of Category 1, Category 2 and Category 3 have been announced. However, the destiny of the overall title will only be decided in the famous Yorkshire forests. Read More »

On a day of ever-changing fortunes in dry and dusty stages in the Epynt region, Barrett and Roberts swept ahead on the final stage of the rally to win in their Pinto-powered Ford Escort Mk2. Rarely has a Pinto-powered car won overall in the BHRC and it was a fantastic performance from both crew members in the RSR Historic Engineering Category 3. Read More »
