The Get Jerky Rally North Wales will bring some of the best rally drivers in the business to Welshpool this weekend [25 March], as the new-look event heads for its new host town in Powys.

Thanks to an exciting new partnership with Trailhead Fine Foods and the high protein Get Jerky brand of beef jerky snacks, the popular loose surface stage rally, organised by Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire Car Club will base itself in the market town, with rally headquarters inside the Welshpool Livestock Market. Next year’s Nicky Grist Stages will host no less than six of the UK’s top national rally championships when the Builth Wells-based event takes place on Saturday 10 July 2021, with crews from the prestigious British Rally Championship (BRC) joining the likes of the hugely popular MRF Tyres BTRDA Rally Series and Motorsport UK Pirelli Welsh Rally Championship.

This means that the Quinton Motor Club-organised event, which has won the ‘BTRDA Best Rally of the Year’ award five times, will see the best British national rally crews tackle the classic mid-Wales forest stages of Crychan, Halfway and on the Epynt military ranges in an all-action, one-day, 45 stage mile rally festival. Our first foray in to the woods of the year was for the Cambrian Rally and this year it was not just the opening round of the BTRDA championship but also the BRC. A superb entry gathered, loaded with R5 and WRC machinery at the front end for the two championships. There was an International feel with Chilean brothers Pedro & Alberto Heller starting as cars 1 & 2 whilst reigning 2018 champion, for both the BRC and BTRDA, Matt Edwards lined up at 3 with Pat Walsh calling the notes, making it an all Fiesta R5 top 3. With the top 10 being made up of the rest of the main BRC contenders it was Stephen Petch & Michael Wilkinson (Fiesta WRC) who were car no.11 and headed up the National B section of the rally.
