While the brakes are on all motorsport activities in the UK, we thought we’d remind you of one of the great event-by-event Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship incentives – supplied by our friends at Mintex.

The Mintex Award goes to the driver who has achieved the best improvement on seeding, and is presented to the registered competitor who finished the most places up from their start order position. Manx Auto Sport regrets to announce the 2020 Manx Rally scheduled for the 15th/16th May will be postponed, following the announcements made by the Isle of Man Government yesterday (16th March).

The organising committee has been closely monitoring the Covid-19 situation over recent weeks and was well advanced in the planning of the popular closed road stage rally which had already attracted a capacity entry. Read More »

The organisers of the 2020 Legend Fires North West Stages Rally have had to make the very difficult decision to postpone next week’s event in view of the worsening situation with the Coronavirus pandemic.

In addition to the commercial consideration that every day closer to the event leaves us exposed to significantly more financial risk, most importantly we have taken into account the fact that the event attracts competitors, press, support crews and spectators from all over the country and we feel that to continue with the event would not be responsible or in the best interests of the community. The reigning BTRDA Gold Star and Scottish Rally Champion Euan Thorburn will contest this year’s Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship.

The 33-year old Duns-based driver had a sensational season last year, winning nine of the 10 rallies he entered and finishing second on the other. That saw him win the BTRDA Series title for a second time (2013 and ’19) and the Scottish Rally Championship title for a third time (2014, ‘17 and ’19).

His Ford Focus WRC05 has been completely rebuilt over the winter and put into asphalt spec ahead of the opening round of Britain’s premier sealed-surface series, the Legend Fires North West Stages Rally in Lancashire on Saturday 21 March. Read More »

The iconic Castletown stage on the Isle of Man, famous the world over for its harbour hugging street-side action will make its return to the Manx Rally in 2020 as organisers release outline details of the 15th/16th May event.

The sound of rally cars will once again echo around the streets of Castletown, as crews in the Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship, Manx Rally Championship, Brian Dennis Motorsport and Marsh Commercial Welsh Historic Championship, ANWCC Stage Rally Championship and the SD34 MSG Stage Rally Championship tackle the twisty test through the town under the cover of darkness on Friday 15th May. Entries have opened for the 2020 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship – with the Sporting and Technical Regulations available to download at asphaltrallying.com.

Organised by the BTRDA, the Asphalt Rally Championship will consist of seven top quality events – four of which are new for 2020. With one double-header, there are eight points scoring opportunities and the best six scores will to count towards the overall and class titles. Read More »
