Chefette Restaurants is to sponsor the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) innovative Marshal Exchange Incentive Programme, organised in partnership with last Sunday’s (September 8) Rali Bae Ceredigion, the first closed-road stage rally in Wales. Three Bajan marshals will travel to the 2020 edition of the Welsh event, their return flights funded by Chefette, a long-term supporter of the island’s motor sport volunteers, while marshals from Rali Bae Ceredigion will attend Sol Rally Barbados 2020.

Subject to final ratification by the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF), the 31st running of the BRC’s premier event is slated for Friday to Sunday, May 29 to 31, with The Rally Show (May 23) and Flow King of the Hill (May 24) the previous weekend. Marty McCormack continued his fine run of form behind the wheel of a Ford Escort MK2, by taking the Historic Category win and an impressive sixth overall at Sunday’s Rali Bae Ceredigion (8th September), the very first closed-road stage rally to take place in Wales.

The result across the infamous lanes near Aberystwyth comes just a week after taking second in class at the BTRDA rally series qualifier, the Woodpecker Stages Rally and the second podium in as many weeks sets McCormack up perfectly for a trip to Belgium and the iconic Escort Rally Special (14th September). Osian Pryce has made history by winning the first ever closed road stage rally to be held in Wales, after scoring a sensational victory on the Get Connected Rali Bae Ceredigion.

Having not contested a rally in a fully-homologated R5 car for two years, and coming just six weeks after breaking his collarbone in a mountain ‘biking accident, the talented 26-year old Machynlleth-born star had said before the start that the odds on him winning where stacked against him. Osian Pryce will contest the Get Connected Rali Bae Ceredigion (Sunday 8 September) in a Melvyn Evans Motorsport-tuned Hyundai i20 R5 – which will mark his return to competition in a fully-homologated R5 car after an absence of two years.

The event, which will be the first closed road stage rally to be held in Wales, will be Pryce’s first rally in a fully-homologated R5 car since he contest the 2017 British Rally Championship. His last finish in an R5 car was on the FIA World Rally Championship stage, when he came home a superb fourth in WRC2 on the 2017 Rally Finland. Read More »

Subject to final ratification by the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF), Sol RB20 will run from Friday to Sunday, May 29 to 31, with The Rally Show (May 23) and Flow King of the Hill (May 24) the previous weekend.

The event has evolved from small beginnings as the International All-Stage Rally of 1990 into the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International and a key National Event on the island’s sports-tourism calendar.
