The first of an uninterrupted series of four gravel events, Rally Argentina is almost certain to be the championship’s most demanding weekend for the cars. Citroën Total Abu Dhabi WRT will be entering three crews in South America, with Kris Meeke / Paul Nagle, Craig Breen / Scott Martin and Khalid Al Qassimi / Chris Patterson, and will also be running a recently homologated upgrade to the C3 WRC’s rear axle.

A JUBILANT, FESTIVE ATMOSPHERE
The traditional hub of Rally Argentina, the Province of Cordoba has an almost religious reverence for rallying. Every year, excited fans flock to the event, thrilled by the WRCs flying along the region’s tough gravel roads at high speeds. VW Newsletter April16cVolkswagen kicked off its Rally Argentina (21-24 April) with a spectacular event in Buenos Aires at the weekend, prior to the official start. Volkswagen drivers Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (F/F) and Andreas Mikkelsen/Anders Jæger (N/N) took the Polo R WRC for a spin in front of thousands of spectators in Tigre on Saturday. They completed a thrilling street circuit, during which they put their smoking tyres through their paces with a number of donuts. The Red Bull X Fighters also put on a stunning show, with breath-taking stunts in their freestyle motocross display. The event was broadcast live on Argentinean television – including by FOX TV, a partner station of the Rally Argentina. Beforehand, the team from Wolfsburg had been welcomed by Volkswagen Argentina CEO Pablo Di Si and the mayor of Tigre, Julio Zamora. “It is a fantastic event,” said Di Si. “We are proud and happy that the team was able to stop by, and we have our fingers crossed for them for the rally.” Read More »

The Citroën Total Abu Dhabi World Rally Team has claimed a one-two finish in Carlos Paz, marking Citroën Racing’s tenth win at Rally Argentina. It was the team’s 29th one-two finish in the World Rally Championship and the first such result achieved by the current driver line-up, Kris Meeke/Paul Nagle and Mads Østberg/Jonas Andersson. Leaders from the second stage until the end, Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle are celebrating their maiden WRC win, whilst Mads Østberg and Jonas Andersson now hold second place in the World Championship standings.
