Newly crowned MSA British Junior Rally Champion and winner of the Twingo Renaultsport R1 Trophy UK finished a gruelling 230km of twisty mountain roads featured on Rallye Du Var, the final round of the French Rally Championship.

The Renault funded drive in a Twingo R2 rally car came as a prize for winning the 2013 UK single make series which features in the British Rally Championship. The car was run by Italian team Gima Autosport alongside a second R2 for the German Twingo R1 champion who sadly exited the rally, crashing out just 1000 meters from the start of the first stage. Twingo Renaultsport Trophy R1 & R2 Trophy winners Garry Pearson/Craig Wallace and Chris Ingram/Stephen McAuley completed the challenging Rallye du Var this weekend, both young drivers showing huge maturity on their championship winning prize drives.

The nature of the French Rally Championship stages and terrain were the biggest challenge for both crews, having never experienced the twists and turns of French asphalt. With several stages in excess of 30 kilometres and hardly a chance for co-drivers to take a breath, the classic Mediterranean Var region roads provide a challenge for day-to-day users, let alone rally drivers trying to eke out every second of performance. Following on from the successful outings by the Citroën DS3 runners on the Rallye Sunseeker, Citroën Racing are delighted to announce the exciting 2012 Citroën Racing Trophy UK, with a fantastic prize fund on offer. Starting on round two of the MSA British Rally Championship, the Bulldog Rally on 23/24 March, the Citroën DS3 R3 mounted crews will be competing for a fabulous 6000€ prize for an overall victory, with 3500€ awarded for second place and €1500 for third.

It’s a big boost for the Citroën crews with 11,000€ on offer from Citroën Racing for each of the five remaining rounds. Coupled to this, there is a fabulous end of year bonus prize for the highest placed junior driver, under 23 years of age in the Citroën Racing Trophy UK. Read More »

Entered for the “FIESTA VAR CHALLENGE” organised by Alain Mahé  in the context of the Rallye du Var, Nelson PANCIATICI, who was partnered with co-driver René PADOVANI, was victorious in his first rally. A success he built up in the first stage raced at night, where he was neck and neck with more powerful cars than his FORD FIESTA R2, prepped to precision by the Group MAURIN,  the chassis balance of which held up perfectly to the treacherous roads of the Var backcountry. Nelson PANCIATICI,  who we usually see in the WORLD SERIES by Renault, will compete in the Rallye du Var for the “FIESTA VAR CHALLENGE” organised by Alain MAHE. Nelson will drive in a Groupe Maurin FORD FIESTA R2 in the P1 ADVANCED RACEWEAR, RALF TECH watch and EUROFORMULA colours.

This final challenge in the French Rally Championship brings drivers from all horizons together, every year, and they will all be driving with to reach their goal, whatever that might be. Read More »
