BHRC Red Dragon16dThe TV coverage of the sixth round of the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship, the Red Dragon Rally, will first be screened on Friday 2 September at 9.35pm on Motors TV.

Filming and TV production for the 2016 BHRC is being handled by the team at Special Stage and the championship will enjoy dedicated 60-minute programmes on Motors TV. BHRC Red Dragon16cThe special award winners from the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2016 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship have been announced, following the Harry Flatters Rally (Sunday 31 July) and the Red Dragon Rally (Saturday 20 August).

On the Harry Flatters, Chris Skill and Tom Jordan collected the award for the ‘Best Improvement on Seeding’, which is a set of axle brake pads from Mintex. The ‘Spirit of the Rally’ product award from Fuchs Lubricants went to Guy Woodcock for a great result on his first event in his Ford Escort Mk2 for 10 months. Read More »

BHRC Red Dragon16bNick Elliott and Dave Price took a final stage victory on the Red Dragon Historic Rally (Saturday 20 August), the sixth round of the 2016 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship.

On a day of heavy rain and incredibly slippery conditions in Walters Arena, Elliott fought back from a time-consuming puncture on stage three and dived ahead when leaders Joe Price and Chris Brooks slid out of the rally on the final stage. reddragon16 (2)Hostile weather at Walters was not what we would have expected in August for the return of the Red Dragon rally, but it provided an added challenge to the crews. It was a sprint rally at just 36 miles and it was Martyn & Dawn England (Fiesta R5+) who took victory by over a minute from Dylan Davies & Dale Bowen (Impreza). Only a second separated England & Davies on stage 1 but England pulled clear from there on, setting fastest time on all 5 stages. Andy Davies & Max Freeman (Impreza) completed the podium just 2 seconds behind after they were equal on time after 4 stages. Read More »

BHRC pre-Red Dragon16The 2016 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship heads to South Wales for round six, the Red Dragon Rally on Saturday 20 August.

After five rounds, Irish ace Paul Barrett heads the overall points’ table after a fabulous campaign in his Pinto-powered Ford Escort Mk2. However, Barrett is not entered at the time of writing and may be using this as one of his dropped scores as the championship will be decided on the best six scores from nine scoring rounds. Sara Williams Red Dragon15Sara Williams further cemented her status as an icon of British rallying as she won the 2015 Red Dragon Rally outright by 1 minute 21 seconds. Sara and her co-driver, Patrick Walsh, navigated 36 stage miles in less than ideal conditions, coming out on top after a faultless day of driving and teamwork. This success marks Sara’s third win overall in a rally event, after she famously became the first female driver to win a rally outright for 30 years in 2013. In addition, Sara and Patrick won the Nick Bradbury Award for fastest final stage time – capping a perfect weekend for the team. Read More »
