Reigning British Rally Champion Matt Edwards took a sensational victory on the Visit Conwy Cambrian Rally to kick-start his title defence with new co-driver Patrick Walsh.

Former champion David Bogie and his navigator John Rowan brought their Skoda Fabia R5 home in second place, while Marty McCormack drove his similar machine to a fine third overall with Barney Mitchell reading the notes.

Tom Cave returned after a year’s absence and pushed the previous champions to the limit in the fight for a podium position. Two punctures on the final stage dropped Cave and co-driver Dale Bowen down the order and with no more spares in the car they were forced to retire. Read More »

BHRC15 SVSRichard Hill and Iwan Jones were surprise winners on the Severn Valley Historic Stages (Saturday 30 May), round four of the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship, when both Nick Elliott and Matthew Robinson retired on the last stage.

Despite overnight rain and some dampness as the field left the Royal Welsh Showground at Builth Wells, the stages were soon dry and dusty again. Read More »

SVS15 CeenBob Ceen and Andy Bull took a dominant victory at this weekend’s Severn Valley Stages, winning all but two stages of the Midland Manor Motor Club organised event.  The Subaru Impreza WRC crew took a two second lead on the opening Cefn test and reached the Royal Welsh Showground finish podium in the same spot despite a last minute gear change issue on the road section back to the Builth Wells finish.  The duo would also take maximum points in the Pirelli MSA Welsh Rally Championship which was essential to their title hopes thanks to a non-score on the Plains Rally earlier in the month. WWRS14 Trackrod ARichard Hill and Steffan Evans claimed a superb victory on the Trackrod Historic Cup (Friday/Saturday 26/27 September), the seventh and final round of the West Wales Rally Spares R.A.C. Rally Championship.

A fabulous field of historic rally cars tackled the classic Yorkshire forest stages, including Staindale and Dalby in the darkness of Friday evening and it was Matt Edwards and Paul Morris who made the early pace in their Ford Escort Mk2. However on Saturday morning Hill/Evans started a major attack to try and claw back Edwards’ 15-second overnight lead. Read More »

Kumho Red Kite14Richard Hill and Pat Cooper took their newly-built MKII Ford Escort to an historic win in last weekend’s Red Kite Historic Stages event – the opening round of the West Wales Rally Spares R.A.C. Rally Championship.

The 60-strong field enjoyed stages in the Calo and Crychan complexes and, though conditions were surprisingly good considering the ongoing wet weather, the return of heavy rain as the leading cars set about the deciding 15-mile long test certainly upped the ante. Read More »

WWRS14 Red Kite BRichard Hill and Pat Cooper took a dramatic final stage victory on the Red Kite Historic Stages (Sunday 2 February), the opening round of the West Wales Rally Spares R.A.C. Rally Championship. In what proved to be a perfect start for the championship season, Ray Cunningham and Chris Browne won Category 1 and 2 respectively but only after two tie-breaks!

With a fine 60-car line-up of championship contenders, the Red Kite lived up to all expectations as crews tackled superb stages in the Caio and Crychan complexes. Read More »

WWRS HillRichard Hill has confirmed plans to contest selected rounds of the West Wales Rally Spares R.A.C. Rally Championship this season, starting with the Tour of Hamsterley on 28 April.

Hill and co-driver Pat Cooper will campaign Hill’s Ford Escort Mk1 in a range of events over the balance of the season despite a frustrating retirement on the Mid Wales Stages due to a split oil cooler. Read More »
