There may have been motorsport heroes on offer at this year’s Race Retro at Stoneleigh Park, but it was the fantastic line-up of Group B and C Rally cars in action on the Live Rally Stage that took the spotlight. MINI WRC Team driver Dani Sordo has joined the line-up for The Rally Show at Cornbury Park this weekend. Just one week after its debut at Rally Italy, the Spaniard will demonstrate the brand new MINI John Cooper Works WRC, which was designed and built by Prodrive in Banbury. The eyes of the motorsport world will be on Cornbury Park’s 1.1-mile special Sstage as the MINI WRC makes its first appearance in the UK.

The Rally Show – a firm fixture on the motorsport calendar – is being held for the first time in Oxfordshire. Visitors will see an array of classic and modern rally cars on show, including the new M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC, currently flying high in the World Rally Championship. It will be driven by World Rally star Henning Solberg (on Saturday 14 May) and newcomer Ott Tanak (on Sunday 15 May). UK rally legend Russell Brookes is helping the Bulldog Rally organisers to recruit marshals by offering a prize for their Marshals’ Draw. One lucky marshal will win a ride in a rally car with the twice British Champion, at the Kick Energy sponsored Rally Show at Chatsworth on 5th and 6th June.

For the prize ride Russell will use either the Opel Manta that took him to the 1985 British Championship title or the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus which he drove on the 1981 RAC Rally. Both cars are still resplendent in the colours of Russell’s long-time sponsor Andrews Heat For Hire. Read More »

Rally legend Russell Brookes will compete on this year’s Bulldog Historic Rally in a Porsche owned by former National and Historic Champion, Steve Perez.

The deal came about due to a chance remark made by Russell on stage at the Bulldog Rally’s 50th birthday forum in October 2008. Russell was extolling the virtues of rallying a Porsche when fellow panellist, Steve Perez, promptly offered him the use of his historic rally Porsche for this year’s event. Read More »
