Otterburn military ranges in Northumberland always has a weather system of its own but the weather Gods decided to give the 97 crews a piece of everything from standing water/heavy rain to sunshine and snow, the event was hosted by Wickham & District Motor Club and Hadrian Motor Sports Club but thanks firstly must go to the band of volunteers out in the horrendous conditions today. The penultimate round of the STRC at Warcop started off with sunny spells forecast and with 70 stage miles / 15 road section miles and 8 Stages the event certainly lived up to its reputation of being tough on crews and cars, the first couple of stages saw us loose a few crews namely Ian Forgan in the Hyundai Accent WRC who had a slight off damaging the front bumper but at service found to have brake problems and a puncture, not wanting to take any chances on the tricky stages the car was loaded up and heading back up the M6. This weekends Pendragon Stages Rally on Warcop ranges just off the A66 on Sunday 27th August is organised by Kirkby Londsdale Motor Club and has attracted 88 cars with another quality entry, 17 of those are STRC regulars and by my account will be the deciding event of the championship, it’s looking like either Gareth White in the Peugeot or Alan Kirkaldy in the Mark 2 Escort will come away from this weekends event clinching the title.

Having said that it will be down to the number crunchers to work out the finer details of dropped scores and class points to finalise the decision. Read More »

Round 7 of the STRC was the Tyneside Stages Rally held at the infamous Otterburn Military ranges in Northumberland hosted by Alnwick Motor Club. With 12 stages ahead of the 63 teams and rain forecast for 3pm it was always going to be a challenging day, the event itself ran right on time with the first car away at 08.30 and like a slick well-oiled machine the stages continued to run on time which was a credit to the organising team.
