It was a rally of two halves, weather wise, as the afternoon was a washout. It made little difference to David Henderson & Chris Lees (Fiesta R5) went fastest on 7 of the 8 stages, taking victory by over a minute and a half. Neil Roskell & Andrew Roughead (Fiesta R5) were 2nd overall, 48s clear of 3rd placed Andy Scott & Laura Connell (Fiesta S2000). Martin Hodgson & Tony Jones (Escort MkII) took top honours in the 2WD battle, 7th overall and 37s ahead of Josh Payton & Jamie Vaughan (Escort MkII). Completing the 2WD podium were Steve Tilburn & Sean Ward (Escort MkII) 7s behind Payton which could have been different had it not been for a 10s penalty for a chicane infringement on SS1. A week after his GT race success in Monza, it was back to rally action for Penrith-born driver Frank Bird this weekend where he was contesting round two of the COVID-19 delayed 2020/2021 Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship with MSVR.

The 2021 Snetterton Stages Rally was based at the Norfolk racetrack and after winning the opening round at Donington Park in December, the 21-year-old Cumbrian, along with Maryport-based co-driver Jack Morton were hoping to repeat the feat to continue their remarkable run of form. Read More »

In race one 2 Seas Motorsport’s Jack Mitchell and Jordan Witt became the seventh different winners in as many Intelligent Money British GT3 races this season at soggy Snetterton this morning, while TF Sport’s Jamie Caroline and Dan Vaughan now lead the GT4 championship on their own after scoring a first class win of the year. A race that began behind the Safety Car also witnessed a remarkable stint from Sandy Mitchell who took second from Optimum’s McLaren – shared by Ollie Wilkinson and Lewis Proctor – on the line.

Storm Dennis was battering the rest of the country but East Anglia avoided most fo the rain and only got the winds. It was not enough to halt Frank Bird & Jack Morton (Focus WRC) from their 5th consecutive win and a clean sweep of fastest stage times too. They took victory by almost two and a half minutes from Barry Morris & Tom Hutchings (Darrian T90 GTR+). Morris had briefly come under pressure for 2nd place but they held off Paul Smith & Dale Bowen (Fiesta R5) who were 47s behind in 3rd overall, including a 10s penalty incurred on stage 3.
