Organisers of the opening round of the 2019 Scottish Rally Championship, The Coogie Urquhart Snowman Rally (9th February) were forced to cancel the event today (Thursday) after thick ice has rendered many of the stages impassable in the Scottish Highlands.

Duns rally driver Garry Pearson was due to return to the series after a two-year sabbatical and was aiming for a podium result to kick start his Scottish Championship campaign behind the wheel of an Asset Alliance Group & George Anderson Builders backed Ford Fiesta R5.

The 27-year-old ace was gearing up to take on some of the best drivers in the country when the organisers issued a statement cancelling the event. Teenager Finlay Retson took the icy and treacherous conditions in his stride last weekend (10th February), taking a class win and 21st overall at the opening round of the ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship, the Arnold Clark Snowman Rally.

After recently announcing his plans to contest the Prestone MSA British Rally Championship (BRC) Cadet Cup in 2018, the 17-year-old Blairgowrie driver would tackle the notoriously difficult Inverness based event as a test event, ahead of the first BRC round in March. Read More »

The Motor Sports Association (MSA) has given its initial response to Sheriff Maciver QC’s Determination regarding the Fatal Accident Inquiry (FAI) into the tragic events of the 2013 Snowman and 2014 Jim Clark Rallies, which was published today (Tuesday 21 November 2017).

Rob Jones, MSA Chief Executive, said: “We welcome the publication of Sheriff Maciver’s Determination. In particular, we acknowledge his thoroughness during the FAI and we are grateful for the fact that he has delivered his report within just two months from the conclusion of evidence.

“We acknowledge the Sheriff’s analysis of the circumstances leading up to each accident, in both cases arising in the context of events that were organised by what were stated to be experienced volunteers demonstrating the highest levels of dedication and responsibility. Read More »

Organisers of the ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship (SRC) are delighted to announce the official calendar for the 2018 season, the 50th season in the championship’s illustrious history.

The SRC comprises seven exhilarating events across Scotland. Around 100 drivers, navigators and their support crews – watched by thousands of spectators – will tackle gravel forestry tracks during the course of the season in a bid to take the overall championship crown or one of the many other awards on offer at the end of the season. Bogie, with co-driver Kevin Rae alongside dominated each of the event’s five stages in his Skoda Fabia R5 to win the Inverness based rally by a comfortable 58 seconds.
