After a while away it was our 2nd visit of the year to a BXCC round as the crews spent two days tackling Sweet Lamb. Adrian Marfell & Paul Bartleman (Fouquet-Nissan) were the class of the field taking victory by 31s, after the 9 timed runs. Opening round winners Richard & Mason Kershaw (Lofthouse Freelander) were 2nd just 7s ahead of Justin Birchall after a hot and dusty weekend in mid Wales. Read More »

fodmctrial15 (23)A glorious early autumn day greeted the crews for the FODMC rally time trial. After a year off the event was a great success and saw excellent battles throughout. Bob & Rob Morgan (Fabia) set the early pace but were pegged back by Andy Davies & Dale Bowen (Impreza) on run 2. Davies then took the lead by 2 seconds on the 3rd run, just before the lunch break. Morgan hit back to halve the deficit on run 4, which saw the crews running in the opposite direction, but Davies hit back with a time 9 seconds faster on run 5 and secured victory with another fastest time on run 6. Geoff Jones & Steve Pugh (Escort MkII) completed the podium and were the first 2WD crew home. Read More »

awdcsweet14 (142)It may have been a month later this year but our first 2014 sighting of the AWDC saw us back at the Sweet Lamb complex. With minimal rain in the days leading up to the event it was a dusty one and high speed too. The best part of 60 crews were present so it proved to be a hectic day of competition. After shedding a wheel last year Rick Mann (Defender) built his pace through the event to win by 25 seconds. Chris Bird (Milner) showed solid pace all day and pipped Andy DeGiulio (Milner) by 14 seconds after DeGiulio had been the early pace setter. Read More »

awdcsweet13 (127)Our first off-road championship round in 5 years and a visit to a favourite venue too, Sweet Lamb. This event was a bit more flat out than usual as the route used was primarily the rally stages but mixed in were some tricky quarry sections and mud links cutting between the gravel tracks. It was these quarry sections that seemed to create the most damage, with several broken suspensions and steering racks, during the course of the event. With 10 runs in total we saw a wide variety of action and the various sounds of V6’s and V8’s roaring over the Welsh hills made this a Sunday to remember. Read More »

coracle13 (12)Phew what a scorcher! That could be said for last weekend too but today Sweet Lamb was bathed and when Tom Cave & Stephanie Key (DS3) stopped on stage 1 it looked game on for a close rally. It proved to be that with the final top two finishing dead level on time, so it went to a tie breaker and so it was Martyn & Dawn England (Evo) who won thanks to a 1st stage time 3 seconds faster than Dan Humphreys & Will Rogers (Evo). Completing the podium were Sara Williams & Dai Roberts (Impreza) were 3rd a further 6 seconds back and 4th and top 2WD crew were Matthew Robinson & Kim Baker (Escort MkII). Read More »

The second running of this event and our first visit started with typical autumnal conditions in Sweet Lamb. The day improved though as the action continued, which saw Dan Humphreys & Jonny ‘Tad’ Evans (Evo VI) take victory by just 5 seconds. But as the day wore on Richard Hill & Patrick Cooper (Escort Cosworth) clawed back 17 seconds over the 3 runs in the afternoon to make the event a close run thing. A comfortable third were Bob Morgan & Martin George (Impreza). Read More »
