TCR International Series – Victory for Huff, championship lead for Vernay
Volkswagen driver Rob Huff (GB) claimed a victory at the penultimate race weekend of the TCR International series in Zhejiang (CHN). Johan Kristoffersson (S) has won the seventh race of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Lohéac (F), securing his fifth victory of the season. It was also his fourth win in a row, making the Swedish driver the first to record such an achievement in the World Rallycross Championship. In rainy conditions on a very slippery circuit, the world championship leader from the PSRX Volkswagen Sweden team put on a commanding display to claim the win in the final, well ahead of local hero Sébastien Loeb (F/Peugeot), who led the event on Saturday evening, and Mattias Ekström (S/Audi). “I have never been so comfortable in a car in rainy conditions before,” said Kristoffersson after his win. “While it was dry yesterday, Sébastien Loeb put us under quite a bit of pressure but the team did a great job today and put out a superb car.” Read More »

Maiden victory for the Polo GTI: Kristoffersson wins in Mettet

Success at the fourth attempt: Johan Kristoffersson (S) earned PSRX Volkswagen Team Sweden its first victory in the FIA World Rallycross Championship (WRX). Kristoffersson, at the wheel of the 570-hp Volkswagen Polo GTI Supercar, won the fourth round of the season in Mettet (B), narrowly defeating Timmy Hansen (S, Peugeot) in a dramatic finale that came down to the finish straight. Triple success for the Golf GTI TCR in Spa-Francorchamps

The third race weekend of the TCR International Series ended with a one-two-three result for the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR. In the second race in Spa-Francorchamps (B), Jean-Karl Vernay (F) of Leopard Racing won ahead of his team-mates Stefano Comini (CH) and Antti Buri (FIN). It was the first success this season for the 330 hp Volkswagen GTI TCR and it was the first ever TCR win for Vernay and Leopard Racing – and not far from the team headquarters in Luxembourg.
