The privateer pair survived a last stage scare to finish a very creditable 39th overall among the world’s top rally teams.

Campaigning the same Kumho-shod Mitsubishi Evo IX in which they enjoyed a class win on the 2013 event, the duo quickly gelled once more to survive unscathed on what is recognised as one of the most gruelling events on the WRC calendar. Read More »

Now she’s a class-winning co-driver on one of the world’s toughest rallies, having assisted Sky Sports analyst Tony Jardine to his best ever result on Wales Rally GB (November 14-17) – the pair’s Kumho-shod ProSpeed Mitsubishi Evo was placed 1st in Class 3 and 26th overall.

The team had a tough start to the event, with Williams missing the second day of the official recce due to illness and various niggling problems on the first day of competition. Olympic gold medallist Amy Williams met with Sébastien Ogier  – the newly crowned 2013 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) title holder – at Castle Combe’s annual Rally Day (21 September). Ogier was on hand to lend some expert advice to novice co-driver Williams, as the 2010 Winter Olympic Skeleton Champion trains to compete at WRC level.

Williams is now halfway through her rally challenge, which involves completing four national rallies in order to qualify as an international co-driver in time for the final WRC round of the season, Wales Rally GB, on 14-17 November. Read More »

This year the Scottish rally, which is named after the late, great rallying superstar Colin McRae will be the penultimate round of the Scottish Rally Championship. Although Sir Chris Hoy will not be directly competing, he will be facing all stages in the course car alongside five-time British Rally Champion, Jimmy McRae. The Olympic cyclist is a long-time fan of the sport and hosted BBC2’s tribute to Colin McRae in the series ‘Racing Legends’ earlier this year.

As if one Olympian wasn’t enough, fans of rallying will also see Skeleton Gold medallist, Amy Williams MBE, compete in the rally alongside Sky Sports News’ F1 analyst Tony Jardine. This will be the third rally that the duo have undertaken as she strives to achieve international co-driver status in time for the final round of the World Rally Championship, Wales Rally GB (14-17 November).
