The BBC’s Top Gear ‘terrible trio’ of Clarkson, Hammond and May never ceases to surprise, and yesterday’s (March 11) episode of the popular TV programme featured them trying their hand at rallycross for the first time – the results of which were surprisingly impressive!

The aim was to prove that motor racing can be achieved on a modest budget and the starting point was our heroes’ purchase of three modestly-priced second-hand cars – a BMW 328 for Clarkson, a Citroen Saxo for Hammond and a Toyota MR2 for ‘Captain Slow’. Kumho’s role was to supply the tyres – the company’s proven C03 tarmac rally tyres for Clarkson and May and a set of the much vaunted V70A road legal competition tyres for Hammond, who was competing in a different class. Top Gear Live is developing an indoor track extravaganza in partnership with Group Lotus Motorsport, designers of the original Top Gear test-track. The track will be the central feature of its all-new Top Gear Live event running from 11-13 November at NEC Birmingham and 24-27 November at ExCeL London.

Top Gear favourites including German race sensation Sabine Schmitz and Tiff Needell will join five-time Le Mans winner, Derek Bell, and an extensive list of other celebrity guests, drivers and presenters on track at the two events. Read More »

With the New Year well under way and the doors of Autosport International closed for another year, entries are starting to come in thick and fast for the Rally Show at Cornbury, which will run on the weekend of May 14/15. Cornbury Park was featured on BBC “Top Gear” on Sunday 30 Jan.
