We only caught the one stage on this years Tour of Britain but it was the home stage in Warwickshire. It proved to be a mirror of the event overall as Mathieu van der Poel (Cornedon-Circus) took the stage up Burton Dassett from Matteo Trentin (Mitchelton-Scott). The riders had one more day to go and van der Peol took the final stage too to win overall by 17s from Trentin with Jasper De Buyst (Lotto Soudal) 50s back and just edging out Pavel Sivakov (Team Ineos). There was a real buzz around the Tour of Britain this year as it saw 4 times Tour de France winner Chris Froome take the startline along with this years winner Geraint Thomas, but neither were looking for the overall classification. We caught three stages in total, stage 5 from Aberdare to Bath and then the two stages in Bristol. It was great to see Steve Cummings (Dimension Data) take an overall tour victory after a superb effort across the 8 days. A stunning effort from Rohan Dennis (BMC Racing) on both stages in Bristol saw him capture 2nd place, just 26 seconds behind Cummings and 12 seconds ahead of Tom Dumoulin (Team Giant-Alpecin).
