Andreas Bakkerud scored a stunning victory at the World RX of Canada in Trois-Rivieres to turn the drivers’ battle in the World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy on its head with three rounds remaining.

Team PEUGEOT Total scored 2nd and 3rd at the Canadian round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship (#7/12) with Timmy Hansen and Sebastien Loeb respectively. It’s a positive result that provides a useful boost of both driver and team points, especially considering that this is just the 2nd competitive outing for the latest PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo, which only made its debut in Sweden last month. This result is also a fair reward to the entire PEUGEOT Sport team, which has been working hard to become competitive in a short period of time. Team Peugeot Hansen consolidated its second place in the 2017 World Rallycross Championship standings at Round 8 in Trois Rivières, Canada, where Sébastien Loeb claimed his third top-three finish in a row.

The FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy will return after a five-week summer hiatus as the teams travel out of Europe for the first time this year for World RX of Canada this weekend (4-6 August). For the fourth year in a row, World RX joins the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres (GP3R) – now in its 48th year – for a week-long motorsport extravaganza. Norway’s Petter Solberg took a sensational lights-to-flag victory at today’s World RX of Canada to become the first driver to win a round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy held outside of Europe. The PSRX driver also becomes the first double winner in RX this year. Volkswagen Marklund Motorsport’s Anton Marklund and Team Peugeot-Hansen’s Timur Timerzyanov finished second and third respectively, both drivers securing podium spots for the first time this season.
