Gareth James and Steffan Evans made a sensational debut in the Kololi Beach Club MSA British Historic Rally Championship with a resounding victory on the Harry Flatters Historic Rally (29 July).

The first trip on to asphalt in this years BHRC and a full championship return for the Harry Flatters Rally. It saw an epic battle which led to victory for Gareth James & Steffan Evans (Escort MkII) beating Nick Elliott & Dave Price (Escort MkII) on a rare asphalt outing. The gap was just under 25 seconds but crucially Elliott failed to win category 3 for the first time this year whilst category 2 saw main title contenders Julian Reynolds & Patrick Walsh (Escort MkI) fight back from gearbox issues early on to win the category and finish 3rd overall just under a minute back. Round five of the 2012 Kololi Beach Club MSA British Historic Rally Championship will take crews onto asphalt for the first time this year on the Stephens and George Harry Flatters Historic Rally (Sunday 29 July).

Heading the BHRC contenders will be current championship leaders Julian Reynolds/Patrick Walsh and Nick Elliott/Dave Price, who are level after each taking a clean sweep of victories across the opening four gravel rallies. Read More »

The full schedule for the 2012 Dunlop/WONAGO MSA British Historic Rally Championship has been unveiled.

The key change from 2011 is that the BHRC management team has taken the difficult decision to drop the Isle of Man Historic Rally from the main BHRC. The event will remain as a round of the Water End Asphalt Cup, but is replaced in the main schedule by the return of the Harry Flatters Rally on Epynt. A revised calendar designed to ease the time and financial commitment for competitors is the key development for the 2012 Dunlop/WONAGO MSA British Historic Rally Championship.

David Stokes and Guy Weaver claimed victory on the SGC Printing Harry Flatters Historic Rally on Sunday (31 July), but only after a day-long fight with Connor Corkill and Mark Perryman was resolved on the final stage as Stokes took a five-second winning margin. Read More »

It had been a long time since we last watched on the asphalt up on the military ranges and as ever there was a bumper entry. In the main rally Peter Lloyd & Graham Handley (Impreza WRC) dominated to win the event by almost a minute and a half. 2nd place was a revelation though as Mark Straker & Neil Harrison took their Darrian T90 GTR to a fine 2nd overall in their first event in anger, for the new car. Completing the podium were Chris Jones & Carl Williamson (Focaru) a similar margin back on their first event in best part of a year. Read More »

Round one of the Water End Properties Asphalt Cup will run on the SGC Printing Harry Flatters Historic Rally on Sunday (31 July).

Although not a full round of the Dunlop/WONAGO MSA British Historic Rally Championship, the event will be contested by crews chasing the asphalt element of the BHRC. The schedule for TV coverage of the Dunlop/WONAGO MSA British Historic Rally Championship has been extended, with the addition of two more dedicated hour-long programmes on Motors TV.

Following rave reviews from competitors and fans, a mid-season review programme has been added to the schedule. This programme, planned to air in early September, will review the opening four gravel BHRC rallies and will feature previously unseen coverage as well as new on-board footage. Read More »

The schedule for TV coverage of the Dunlop/WONAGO MSA British Historic Rally Championship has been announced, with dedicated hour-long programmes on Motors TV following each round as well as an extended end-of-season review programme.

The broadcast dates for the first showing of each programme are as follows:

Bulldog Historic Rally: Saturday 23 April at 9pm
Pirelli Historic Rally: Saturday 28 May at 8.30pm
Severn Valley Historic Stages: Sunday 26 June at 9.30pm
Ulster Historic Rally: Sunday 18 September at 6.55pm
Tour of Flanders: Sunday 9 October at 10pm
Colin McRae Stages: Saturday 22 October at 9.30pm
