Jerseyman Ed Fossey continued his fine form in the BTRDA Rally Championship on the Plains Rally last weekend – the third round of gravel rally series. The Yokohama-backed star finished a fine 60th out of 120 competitors, but more importantly the Toyota Yaris driver continues to lead the Thomas Panels 1400S championship after securing his second podium in a row – notching-up third in class on the Welsh gravel. Twelve months after ending his season in a Somerset ditch, Flookburgh rally driver Aaron McClure made a successful comeback to the sport on last weekend’s Malcolm Wilson Rally.

Driving his freshly rebuilt Yokohama HPT backed Mitsubishi Evo IX, McClure and co-driver Michael Gilbey took fifth spot in the ultra-competitive NR4 Production Cup and a healthy 21st overall in a field which was bolstered by British Rally Championship hopefuls using the event as a test bed for their forthcoming season. 18-year-old Ed Fossey got his 2017 BTRDA rallying campaign underway in Cumbria last weekend (11 March) in his Yokohama-backed Toyota Yaris. Starting car 114 on the road, the Jersey-born driver overcame a variety of problems to claim 88th overall and more importantly sixth in the 1400S class on only his second gravel rally in his Japanese machine. A season ending roll on the Somerset Stages meant McClure had an enforced sabbatical from the sport, but thanks to continuous support from his backers, has spent the downtime building a new car for the 2017 season. fossey-2017-announce-bJersey-born rally star Ed Fossey will contest a full year of rallying in 2017 as he commits to the national British Trials and Rally Drivers Association (BTRDA) Championship aboard his Yokohama-backed Toyota Yaris.

The 18-year-old stepped up from the Junior 1000 series at the beginning of 2016 winning ‘The Next Big Step’ scholarship and undertook a development plan last year, selecting several unique events to develop his rallying skills with tarmac running and more importantly several events on a variety of gravel surfaces.
