Flookburgh rally ace Aaron McClure will head to next weekend’s Eventsigns Woodpecker Stages Rally (Saturday 5th September) with a mountain to climb, if he is to put himself back in contention for the REIS Ravenol BTRDA Rally Series N4 category win.  Having suffered a tough year behind the wheel of his new Allfloors Express – YOKOHAMA backed Mitsubishi E9, the 2300 Club John Easson Award winner starts the event fourth in the championship standings but will aim to get his title aspirations back on track for 2015. AaronMcClurePR_011_15_NGSCumbrian rally ace Aaron McClure had all hopes of a podium result end in a final stage driveshaft failure on his Allfloors Express – YOKOHMA backed Mitsubishi E9 at the Nicky Grist Stages in Wales on Saturday (11th July). After battling back from a slow start during the morning to a creditable fourth in the Hyundai Genpower Production Cup during the latter stages of the event, the car lost rear traction on the start line of the last stage of the event, dropping McClure to seventh in class and with it all to do to capture the title this season. AaronMcClurePR09_15_CSRCumbrian rally ace Aaron McClure ended his hopes of a third podium in a row on Saturday’s (13th June) Carlisle Stages when he rolled his Allfloors Express – YOKOHMA backed Mitsubishi E9 into retirement on the penultimate stage of the event.  After proving his early season pace was no fluke, the 20 year old 2300 Club John Easson Award winner from Flookburgh was lying a creditable eighth overall and second in the hotly contested N4 class when he left the road on a right hand bend.  Despite the efforts of nearby spectators, the car was stuck in the Kielder forest undergrowth and would go no further. REIS-Ravenol BTRDA Rally Series contender Aaron McClure secured his second runner up result in as many events, bagging a confidence boosting second place in the BTRDA N4 and Hyundai Genpower Production Cup on Saturday (16th May) at the Plains Rally.  The 20 year old 2300 Club John Easson Award winner was competing in only his third event in his newly acquired his Allfloors Express – YOKOHAMA Mitsubishi E9 and returned to the Welshpool rally finish an impressive second in class and 15th overall from a start position of 33. The 20 year old Allfloors Express and Yokohama backed ace would use his home event as the first outing for his newly acquired Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 9, setting an impressive pace before a rear damper failed on the sixth stage of the event , putting the rising talent out of the rally instantly. The 2014 John Easson Award winner and British rally star Aaron McClure has confirmed his 2015 plans at today’s (Friday 9th January 2015) Autosport International show, by signing a deal with leading tyre firm Yokohama.  The 20 year old from Flookburgh in Cumbria will make the major change to four wheel drive and will switch to the BTRDA National Gravel series in his newly acquired Group N Mitsubishi Lancer Evo9 in a bid to gain experience in a more powerful all-wheel drive car.AaronMcClurePR01_15 Read More »
