boxing-cross-154A superb day greeted the best part of 100 riders for the 2016 Boxing Day Cross, at Kenilworth Common. The first few laps were frenetic but it didn’t take long 2014 and 2015 winner Steven Roach to pull out a decent lead over George Moore, one which he held to the end to take a hat-trick of wins. Moore held on to 2nd place after being with Roach over the first three and a half laps, pulling away from the chasers behind. The closest battle was for 3rd and it was only decided in the last quarter of the race when Dan Booth broke away from Matt Barrett, who had led for most of the first lap. Read More »

gloster16-1John Fack became the ninth different winner of the year at the round of the Sporting trial season at the Gloster. Fack hadn’t won for two years since winning the British championship and ended the year with an overall win, which his identical twin Jerome started with. A heavy overnight frost made for extremely treacherous conditions and a high scoring day with Fack and Roland Uglow leading the way finishing just seven marks apart. rockingham16-1Dry but cold conditions were once again present at Rockingham as almost 90 crews took the start. Rhys Yates & Tom Woodburn (Fiesta R5) were utterly dominant and took victory by almost 3 minutes. Of the 11 stages run they were fastest on all but one and despite a scare on stage 5 with leaking fluid, they didn’t look troubled at all. After the opening day Paul King & Alicia Miles (Escort MkII) held a 3 second advantage over Paul Swift & Patrick Walsh (Escort MkII) but through the Sunday stages they were both overhauled by Bruce Edwards & Jim Smith (Darrian T9 GTR) and Alan Kirkaldy & Cameron Fair (Escort MkII).
