A record entry of 57 competitors was received for the 750 Motor Club’s Historic Plum Pudding Trial held on the 29th December 2019 at Head Down, near Buriton in Hampshire. 6 long slippery sections had been devised in the woods and as all the hills could be cleared the pressure was on not to make any mistakes. Stephen Barnes won the Historic class by four marks from an ever-improving Matt Johnston who was three marks ahead of Dave Methley. The Post Historic class produced a three-way tie between Steve Courts, Mark Howse and Dave Oliver all of whom did not lose a mark all day. A remarkable result which left the organisers having to reorder the trophies to reflect the tie.

James Swadling (8point8 Group) took an early lead in the 66th edition of the Coventry Road Club / Ride Coventry Boxing Day Cross and never looked like being caught. He crossed the line almost a minute ahead of Richard Jones of Renvale RT, with Joshua Jones of ZeroBC in third. The women’s race was won by Karen Summers who started slowly but passed Fran Whyte (Velobants.cc) at the end of the second lap and continued to forge ahead, Lindsey Newman (Team Jewson-M.I.Racing) took third place. Multiple Polish rally championship-winning team, Rallytechnology has confirmed its participation in the Projekt E electric series in 2020.

The internationally-renowned rally team has committed to a full participation with a two-car entry, starting with the first race at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium on May 16-17.

Projekt E is a collaboration between IMG and Austrian company STARD (Stohl Advanced Research and Development). Read More »

Ollie Mellors gave the Proton Iriz R5 its fourth UK gravel rally win in a row last weekend, snatching victory on the final stage of the Grizedale Forest Rally (7th December) after a gutsy drive, despite suffering significant time loss in the early stages of the event. Read More »

Wet and windy conditions gripped Grizedale forest as Ollie Mellors & Ian Windress (Iriz R5) took a 45s victory from Jock Armstrong & Cameron Fair (Impreza) but it has been far as simple as that. On the openong stage Mellors was the only competitor under 10 minutes some 23s faster than his nearest rival but 40s dropped on the following stage saw Armstrong leading from Thomas Preston & Carl Williamson (Fiesta WRC). Mellors had slipped down to 3rd place before the crews tackled the two runs of Dunnerdale with Preston closing in to just 7s of Armstrong, whilst Stephen Petch & Michael Wilkinson (Fiesta WRC) had closed in on Mellors for 3rd, just 3s behind. World Rally Championship co-driver Phil Hall ensured he ended his 2019 competitive season on a high, by winning the Royal Air Rally Championship thanks to a last-minute seat alongside Ross Leach at the Hall Trophy Rally.

Hall, 30 from Mansfield near Nottingham secured the hard-fought domestic title after a buoyant season in the Junior World Rally Championship, made even more poignant thanks to this season’s unique collaboration with the Royal Air Force during his World Championship campaign. Read More »

After a lot of recent rainfall the Gloucester Sporting Trial was a cold crisp affair. The ground soon chruned up with several hills having total re-routes as the day progressed plus this was the last round of the BTRDA championship ahead of the finals in January 2020. Reigning Gold Star Champions Ian & Kiel Wright (Sherpa Indy) took an early 1 point lead from Julian Fack & Luke Richards (Crossle). The 2nd pass of the hills saw Wright maintain his lead with joint lowest score of the round. Jerome Fack & Richard Davis (MSR) moved up in to 2nd place thanks to a joint lowest score with Wright, just 2 points ahead of Ian & Tristan Veale (Sherpa) who also set a joint lowest score on round 2.
