Arron Newby claimed his second victory of 2023 on Saturday (15 April) as he took his Skoda Fabia R5 to a convincing Rallynuts Stages Rally win.

The 28-year-old driver from Carnforth in Cumbria took control of a hotly contested event on the fifth test when early leader Matt Hirst picked up a puncture, and from then on Newby and co-driver Jamie Edwards threaded their way through the tricky world-class stages with precision, to take the win by an impressive 30 seconds. Three-time British Rally champion Matt Edwards stamped his name in the history books on Saturday [26 March] with victory at round two of the Fuchs Lubricants British Historic Rally Championship, the WKD Trained Dogs Rally North Wales.

After a record breaking hattrick of back-to back BRC titles, Edwards would continue his winning ways by taking the Rally Sport Developments FIAT 131 Abarth to its first ever British Historic Rally Championship victory and the first non-Ford win since 2009 in the series. Read More »

Matthew Robinson and Sam Collis enjoyed a perfect start to their 2022 Fuchs Lubricants British Historic Rally Championship campaign, dominating the Riponian Stages Rally timesheets to a secure provisional victory at the opening round of the series on Sunday (6 February) *.

Robinson hustled his Ford Escort MK2 to fastest time on each of the event’s six stages, taking victory by 47 seconds from nearest rivals Nick Elliott and Dave Price in their similar machine whilst Roger Chilman and Gwynfor Jones grabbed the final podium spot on the last stage of the event. Nick Elliott took his second Fuchs Lubricants British Historic Rally Championship maximum points score of the season by snatching victory on the very last stage of last weekend’s Trackrod Historic Cup [24-25 September].

Elliott and co-driver Dave Price were embroiled in a battle all weekend long with BHRC returnees Matthew Robinson and Sam Collis, only for Robinson to suffer rally-ending damage on the final stage of the event, handing Elliott his second win in as many rallies and putting him at the forefront of the 2021 title chase. After retirement on the previous BRC round, Matt Edwards & Darren Garrod (Polo R5) struck back in the finest way, setting fastest time on all but one stage and leading from start to finish on the 2021 Trackrod Rally Yorkshire. Osian Pryce & Noel O’Sullivan (Polo R5) consolidated their BRC championship lead with 2nd overall. They took it by 0.8s from Matthew Wilson & Stuart Loudon (Fiesta Rally2) who had an overshoot on the final stage, in Dalby, although this balanced out with Pryce dropping time on the same stage, ran on the Friday night as stage 1. Nick Elliott grabbed a hard-fought win at the opening round of the 2021 Fuchs Lubricants British Historic Rally Championship, steering his Ford Escort Mk2 to victory at the Hills Ford Three Shires Stages [5 September]*.

Battling over 14 stages in the narrow closed-road lanes of Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Elliott and co-driver Dave Price kept their potent Mk2 on the straight and narrow to take a maximum points haul on the first of three qualifying rounds in 2021. Read More »

The Harry Flatters saw a 90 car field take to the dry stages of the Epynt ranges. Daniel Jones & Kevin Lewis (Escort MkII) were fastest Historic crew through the first stage but a returning Nick Elliott & Dave Price (Escort MkII) grabbed the lead and held a 1s advantage at first service. They were close on the next two stages but a stunning stage saw Jones move ahead. He then pushed the margin out further to take the National A part of the rally by 40s. Elliott meanwhile was embroiled in a tight battle, briefly losing 2nd place to Stanley Orr & Graham Henderson (Escort MkI) on stage 9 before Orr retired after stage 10. Elliott also had a hard charging Joe Price & Chris Brooks (Escort MkII) to contend with and after the 11th and final stage the margin was just 3s. Read More »
